A lot of her pressure was self-imposed, and a lot of it was a function of her prior success and the media build-up to her second appearance in the Olympics.

Bad coaching, it was her coaches job to see to it that she was mentally able to compete. If he/she could not do that he/she had a responsibility to resign and let some other coach try. Nothing says BIG PROBLEMS AHEAD like a good coach resigning.

When it comes to the mental side of sports, I don’t think it’s even possible to “coach” something that isn’t already there.
