Ok, I went digging. LOL
The gentleman in question is in New Brunswick Canada (I thought he was a good ol’ Southern boy LOL) and the reason he feeds as much as he does and that they’re so fat is because they’re about to enter torpor for winter. Raccoons don’t hibernate but it’s close. So they need to be fat to survive the winter. Like a bear.
Also, I read that he has them treated for rabies, parasites, and other bad things so they stay healthy. He’s a former Mountie and he’s been feeding them for around 20 years.
He did talk about how it was -6 out there. And it was only November. Very interesting, I didn’t know raccoons did that for the winter. Looks like he has them in good shape for it then. He must spend a fortune on those Critters, especially the medications. I was amazed that they let him touch them, he has them very tame.

That is good to know. I just don’t want any vermin anywhere near me. Except maybe squirrels. :-)
I don’t know any good ole’ southern boys that would feed a bunch of raccoons that prevent them from getting into the hot tub,
