Good Morning lysie and all.....

Well, such a sad day yesterday for JudyinCanada, because I just know you all want to hear my tale of misery to start your day lol.

I had to shut down the cottage yesterday. I had to pack up years of memories over the last two weeks and be out yesterday, as the sale is still up in the air and they sent me a new lease. If I didn’t want to sign the lease, they wanted $1700 for the year. I know this is a small price to pay to have a cottage for a year, but it’s been uninhabitable for the last 2 years. I only go out about once a week for a few hours to sit on the deck, and I just couldn’t justify spending $1700 to sit on a deck about 6 more times.

My son came out and took the last few things out for me. I cried when he got there and looked at the empty place. It made him cry too lol. He was only 8 when we got the place, and he’s 33. Lots of good times. Now my daughter, she didn’t love the place like my son, so I didn’t expect her to be sad, and she wasn’t. She’s too busy lol. Then lo and behold, my phone rang about 2:00 this morning and it was her, bawling her eyes out. Scared me at first....you know those mid-night phone calls. I guess she was putting the kids to bed and the small one just realized they couldn’t come out to Nana’s lake any more, and it just struck my daughter as well. lol poor girl. She was so upset, another era come to an end. She regretted all the times I asked if they were coming out to the lake and she was too busy with that darned farm. They got now and again, but not enough, she thought. I told her all was ok, and new beginning is just around the corner, and we’ll maybe put in a pool and start some new memories lol.

The driveway for the new home got dug up yesterday....it was fun to sit and watch the heavy equipment as work....the steam shovels, not the guys lol. Hopefully new home arriving early September, so August is going to be super busy packing up the house (closes Aug. 30th) and getting the spot on the farm ready for the new place. Part of it’s going to be in a nice little wooded area, and then open with oak trees on each end of the front deck. It should be nice.

Well, that’s my update. I haven’t been on much but do check in every day and am keeping up with you guys. Ok - back to bed....never fell asleep again after the sad phone call. Poor girl.....she didn’t want to wake up her hubby because he had to get up early to work (what else is new), so she took her crying outside and sat in the truck and called me. She’s normally a pillar of strength, but I guess everyone has to have a little burst of emotion (aka melt down lol) now and again.

Onward and upward - hope everyone is well!

Your cottage sounds lovely and you have sweet memories......
Your adult children sound a lot like mine, in reverse order:)

Oh Judy, the end of an era, so sad.

But reflecting on your happy lake memories will get you through.

Well, this is weird, I had not read your post yet but the words “onward and upward” popped into my head as I made my 1st post this morning.

Thanks for sharing. I completely understand being sad about the end of the cabin era. But you all have all the memories. Your new place sounds so nice, soon you will be settled in. Is your favorite rooster still there?

I’ve missed you, but figured you were busy. Take care.

“Part of it’s going to be in a nice little wooded area, and then open with oak trees on each end of the front deck. It should be nice.”

Now that sounds lovely. Sorry about all the sadness about the cottage. I definitely understand.

It’s always hard to leave a place filled with precious memories
New one will be made at your new place.
