Not so fast. What is called “sea level rising” is also base level of terrain sinking which people perceive as rising seas. It can easily be the case.
The landing beaches of Caesar in England are now a half mile inland. The sea is about a mile from Thermopylae today also.

It is very probable that this road is exactly when they claim. Also it’s easily proven due to Roman road building techniques.

And as some ports are inland, other port cities like Baia are now underwater and are major diving attractions.
It’s silly to see how seriously “sea rise” is taken with no thought at all about the constantly moving terrain below the sea. Sometimes rising, sometimes falling.

With all the glo-bull warming nonsense going around I would say that the road was probably sunk in an earthquake in the distant past.

I have read of a Roman era temple well above sea level that shows it had barnacles on it at one time from being submerged.

There are also several Roman ports in Italy that are now inland.

From the article:

“The unrest has already caused severe social upheaval in Campi Flegrei. The three episodes of uplift have together pushed the port of Pozzuoli, near the centre of unrest, more than three metres out of the sea.

“The unrest in 1970 and 1983 caused tens of thousands of people to be evacuated from Pozzuoli itself,” said study co-author Dr Stefano Carlino from the Vesuvius Observatory.”

Venice is built on marsh land. It is sinking.
Let that S I N K I N.
So sea levels are not rising. The land is sinking.
This can be confirmed by checking all around Italy’s coasts and seeing that the sea level in numerous other locations has changed very little.

“we can’t build a road to last 20 years?”

Because the Romans were doing it with stone to get a road. Now we are doing it with paper to get a works program.

This story violates the Global Warming narrative.

The internet cartel will probably send it to the memory hole.

before sea levels rose and flooded the area

phooey....the city is built on soft mushy land and the building sank and compressed the substrate.

"...once upon a time, before sea levels rose and flooded the area, ..."

I thought that Venice had been, was, and is, sinking into the original marshlands it was built on...

Yes, the Venice area is well known for subsidence. It’s probably a combination of subsidence and a sea level rise (which has been modest the past 2,000 to 3,000 years).

Venice sinking doesn’t have a damn thing to do with man-made global warming, it’s sinking because of plate tectonics. The Adriatic plate is being subducted (shoved underneath) the Appenine plate. Been happening for millions of years.
