I also notice that when a criminal shoots a person: it’s a gun problem. When a cop shoots a criminal: it’s a person/cop problem.
The “crisis” is that criminals are running rough shod over the politicians, not handguns. Handguns have never lEapt off a table, or lut of their holsters, jumped in cars, and gone on shooting rampages on their own. Guns are not the problem, criminals are the problem!

There’s a gang crisis, a drug culture crisis and a violent black thug crisis. When they have dealt with those things then guns of any kind won’t be an issue. Of course, that means they’ve have to hold people responsible, which so far they refuse to do.
In a large majority of murders by handgun, the police KNOW the person who pulled the trigger, if only by prior acquaintance in earlier brushes with the law. But the LEOs can do nothing, as they are constrained by prosecuting attorneys that have “compassion” for the disadvantaged youth, and use their “prosecutorial discretion” to selectively turn these same transgressors loose again and again, often before the arresting officer has completed the paperwork.
Mere words in a thick tome outlining what is legal and illegal mean nothing unless there is a will to apply the letter and spirit of the law.

Pistols are the problem now then they grab them round them up because so many people use rifles for hunting it isn’t the best route to total gun control.

You can hardly ever trust a liberal no matter how straightforward or sound that they may sound at time. If you ask a person that is still alive after being shot by a gun, any gun, he’ll tell you he was assaulted. So laws that identify assault whether it be with a weapon or hands that are just as capable of killing as the others, can not identify assault with a weapon as any weapon is capable. So the semantics overplay their own definition.
And this is what politicians fail to recognize in their efforts to create a boogeyman to scare the public. It’s not the weapon, it’s the intent. Example: “dirty bomb” as it has been referred to by the media is a terrorist weapon. It is not an “atomic” bomb. The dirty bomb is a conventional weapon using conventional explosives (such as dynamite or TNT) to disperse or spread radioactive material (among other things). The dangerous part of the weapon is the explosive itself, not the radioactivity that would be spread. The intent of the weapon is to cause damage by the explosion and spread fear and panic by the presence of radioactivity. First of all, if can be made with radioactive particles, it can spread it to a limited area and the health effects of radiation tend to be directly proportional to radiation dose. In other words, the higher the radiation dose, the higher the risk of injury. And that risk can produce radioactive poisoning and death if not treated. But “the media” calls this a terrorist weapon, not an assault weapon. So is a gun or a rock. It’s all word twisting for fear mongering. I wouldn’t vote for this chicken little for dog catcher.
