Allen West, a retired Army officer, former congressman and Texas GOP chairman, used Independence Day to launch a Republican primary challenge to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
West released a YouTube video and made an appearance at Sojourn Church in Carrollton, Texas, to announce his 2022 bid, saying he was focused on illegal immigration, the Democrat assault on energy resources and human trafficking.
"I’ve not been in elected political office for about a decade, but I can no longer sit on the sidelines and see what has happened in these United States of America and ... the place that I call home," West said in the video.

Texans just rehired Cornyn for six more years of amnesty attempts.
I’ve been praying for West to get in the ring! Awesome news!
my two cents: if you’re in a currently red state, with decent voting integrity (yeah, i know there was a lot of fraud in tx too). you need to take every opportunity to clean house and pick off the uniparty gopes at the top, while you can. even tx doesn’t have forever to get rid of them.
from the top down is better. it’s harder from the bottom up but that has to be done too.
in the blue states, it doesn’t really matter what you do anymore.
Thank you. It always looks so darn easy.

I like Allen West. But I will be voting for Gov. Abbott’s reelection.
I hope you don't think Alan West would have had it done already.
Immigration and protecting the borders is without question a federal issue. Abbott had to wait until it's very clear to the citizens of Texas that the state is being forced to go outside the Constitution to take it upon itself to close the border.
Texas taking action to close the border is in effect a direct step toward secession. This is a big deal and Abbott must have full support of the citizens of Texas. It would be a no easier for West and in fact he would most likely have a much much more difficult time.

Did he even get a Republican challenger?
Talked to a couple of Texans about this. They are behind Abbott at this point.
My only argument for West is that Abbott has not been very vocal against the southern invasion and the communist takeover of the US.
Is that the only thing against patriots has against Abbott?
Refer to post 28 and 29
I like West and as long as this doesn’t make the Governorship vulnerable to a Democrat, I support him over Abbot.
OK, what do you suggest that he can legally do vis-à-vis the border?
He's a professional liar in the "W" mold. Don't listen to what he says, watch what he does. A good example is the energy crisis in Texas. He appoints the commissioners to the PUC,(they all resigned)and if he sits on those appointments he's not going to do anything about ERCOT.
Yes. Go after one of the Tx Dem congresspeople.
Abbott didn't need to do anything as President Trump was taking care of the problem federally. Taterhead was installed in the Oval Office Jan. 20 this year. The Texas legislature, Lt. Dan and Gov. Abbott immediately rose to the threat and passed legislation that will enable law enforcement to charge and arrest invaders with tresspassing and will be funding wall construction where they will be legally able to do so. Other states have already offered their assistance with this endeavor.
That said, I guess the lesson of Ross Perot still need to be pounded into the Stupid Party's meager brains.
