A kid in the summer in the 50s and early 60s,
Go out after breakfast, bike to the next town over, bike back have lunch, go out again after lunch find and play with friends, mess around. Climb trees, run in the corn, play ball, have dinner, watch the sun set, chase fireflies, watch stars with father, come in, go to bed.
She might have said get home for lunch/dinner and I just do not remember.
Thoughts of those times make my eyes go blurry.
Even though Leave It To Beaver, Father Knows Best, etc., were technically before my time, I like watching those shows nonetheless. Big fan of the "retro" networks.
Usually if you were riding to the next town over, you would pack a lunch. Maybe Ma would even fix it for you. Brown paper sack.
