There was a farm nearby that has a donkey and an Emu that regularly escaped and roamed onto our property.... Lol! Reminds me of an episode from the 1960s TV series Green Acres, where animals from a traveling zoo escape and roam over to the Douglas farm. Everyone of course thought he was nuts when he claimed to have seen a zebra, chimpanzee and other exotic animals.
That house was like Green Acres with any number of theater of the absurd moments. The mailing address/zip code were Pell City. When we were moving in we naturally went to the Pell City city offices to get our water connected and they had never heard of the address. Ultimately we found out our water was through Cook Springs. Trash service was through Moody, AL.
I loved living there, though. I could pee off the front porch and shoot off the back.
