I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to be. I was trying to put a complex thought into a couple of sentences and it didn’t go well.
I’m going to try to explain what I was thinking; hopefully I don’t make it worse!
I think most of us here do prepping of some sort. I’m not gonna go back as far as Y2K (guilty!). And I don’t pay close attention to financial markets. But for me personally, when the Great Recession in 2008 occurred, along with the Greece austerity, the Balkans financial crisis, Venezuela hyperinflation, etc., the handwriting was on the wall. The question was when.
So, a lot of us have been paying attention to prepping for a whle. I think 2020 was a wake-up call to others that there’s all sorts of reasons to prep. And there’s still more that remain blind to what’s coming. For those who already have a prepping mindset (like us) a prod to get our head back in the game is always good. For those who don’t have that mindset, I doubt a retired military guy is gonna change their minds.
Hopefully that captures more what I was trying to convey.
I’m listening to President Trump’s speech at Turning Point.
I thought I loved the man already, but I loved him even more when I heard his story about his conversation with “Mohammed”. I had not heard this before. This is a real leader.

I definitely need to quit concentrating on roofs, flooring, and cats and think about what we are lacking here. Sure wish I had my pizza oven. Although it sounds frivolous, it’ll be a way of cooking and baking without electricity, natural gas, or propane. It can cook anything from pizzas at 900 degrees down to bread and chicken at 350. And I have a whole hillside of fuel ;)
I went for a short hike on that hill and got lost. I love that! Love the lots of acreage connecting behind this lot.

What’s the point in winning back a Congressional majority if we’re going to have McCarthy and McConnell in positions of leadership? That’s no better than having Pelosi and Schumer. You don’t fight back against an Administration like this one with Washington Good Old Boys.

My problem was it was not loud enough for me. I have the volume all the way up and had on earphones.
I struggled to hear most of speech.
I know there are others here with hearing loss. Lysie, especially wondering if the hearing aids you got are satisfactory?

I was trying to keep from doing a brain dump, but apparently my thought process doesn’t pair well with conciseness. So brain dump it is! LOL
I wouldn’t say that concentrating on roofs, flooring or family (cats) isn’t prepping-related. You just moved into a new house so there’s all sorts of things that need to get sorted. If the roof isn’t good and needs replacing, now is the time to do it. Getting and keeping everyone in the family at peak health (whatever that looks like for that member) is vital.
I’ve been trying to keep a list of things as I think of them. I realized the other day that I do not have a fire extinguisher in this house at all! I’ve never had one, even growing up, so it’s just not something I’ve thought about. Even though I’m 2 miles from a fire station, and a fire hydrant sits on my property, I still think I need one! And they’re not that much money.
A friend and I were talking about hot water yesterday. She does bbq competitions and she’s looking for an idea for heating water at campgrounds when competing. She showed me a hot water heating system from Australia but it requires propane. Which is fine if you can get the propane.
I would be more interested in some type of solar heating system if I could find it. I know about solar camp showers but I want something bigger. The back of my house faces south, so it would be a perfect set up for all sorts of solar. Only one tree blocks the sun and it’s some type of willow (not weeping) so I wouldn’t mind taking it out if necessary. Would love a solar oven!
