Has anyone found a decent Wheat Bread lately?
What is the difference in “whole grain” bread and “wheat bread”?
I rarely touch normal breads any longer, due to the carb calories involved.
I can day we’ve taken to Aldi’s keto-friendly multigrain bread, along with a higher calorie keto bread at Costco. Also, we enjoy the low carb tortillas from Costco, too.
“Has anyone found a decent Wheat Bread lately?”
Yes— Orowheat Honey Wheat Berry. Excellent toasted. Makes outstanding tomato sandwiches.
Am I out of touch? I always thought wheat bread was just bread, and the default type of bread for thousands of years.
I’ve never cared much for regular whole wheat bread, which is just a light brown version of white bread, but I like some of the varieties that have a lot of whole grains and seeds in them. They have more flavor, a bit of crunch, and seem more moist.
What, people don’t like lunch meat between cardboard?
damn right it sucks
Most bread is made of wheat, but “wheat” bread usually refers to the brown version of bread in which the grain goes through less processing.
Pimento Cheese on white bread is great!
Dave’s Killer Bread makes a decent whole grain wheat bread. But I may be regional (western US). I find it in Costco, Walmart, Albertsons, and Smiths.
I’d rather have locally-made multigrain bread. At least those are edible with a good butter spread or jam.
I’ve been trying to cut down so only buy half wheat bread.
To finish my point, “wheat” bread is usually marketed as “whole wheat.”
gimme pastrami and swiss on rye please
I've been enjoying Oroweat bread since the mid-sixties. I usually prefer whole wheat bread to white unless the white bread is from a good-quality, Italian, French, Cuban or sheepherder loaf.
If I'm going to have to have some carbs, which I love, because I'm on the carb diet, lol, then I might as well have really good tasting white bread or whole grain bread with lots of nuts, seeds, etc...Killer Dave's out of Portland oregone is really good, although I did break a tooth on it a few yrs ago....
I am not very much for bread, but I make time for Orowheat Honey Wheat Berry.
I do not even allow white bread into my house.
You’re correct. White bread is new. It’s made by stripping out all the nutrients of the grains and replacing them with a bunch of added sugar. Of course it tastes better; pure fat and refined carbohydrates always do. And then we get a country where 3/4 of the population is overweight and nearly half are obese.
Have you tried Dave’s killer white bread??It’s made with some wheat and pretty sturdy.....
