1. How many minutes are in a kilometer?
2. Who was the first person to land on the Sun?
3. What country is Venice, Italy in?
In many cases common sense an innate intelligence seem to have an inverse relationship .
Who is buried in Grant’s tomb?
Many people become educated beyond their common sense and lose their grasp of reality.
Don’t worry. Mother Nature, hunger, pain and suffering are pretty good teachers.
I don’t believe some of these interviews. While it’s true many American teens are utterly ignorant of geography, they can’t possibly be this stupid? Can they?
My sixth grade teacher would include a bonus question on her tests. One was, “What color was George Washington’s white horse.” It was amazing home many kids missed that.
While I accept the fact that Americans aren’t as educated as they used to be, the video seems a little over the top to me. All the people being asked those questions were obviously acting and in on the ruse.
I do get a kick out of these interviews on how stupid some people are. I wish though that they would preface it with “this is comedy - out of the 100 people we spoke with, xx people got it correct.”
OTOH - it wouldn’t surprise me if only 20 people got it right.
People fake being stupid to make the cut. Same thing with our so smart Freepers that lie to pollsters..
My thought was that there were hundreds interviewed and the bottom 5% were selected.
Common sense is a disadvantage in a society which rewards brown nosing, conformity and the regurgitation of nonsense. Intelligent people focused on getting ahead will tend to abandon it.
Now we have PragerU and Wild World of History but are they too late?
Is this a Mark Dice video?
Years ago the Education establishment started pushing Critical Thinking Skills.
What is “Critical Thinking”? It basically means blind acceptance of Marxism. You do what you’re told. You don’t think for yourself. It’s the opposite of the name.
When Bloomberg ran for the presidency, he spent $300 million. A news commentator noted that he had spent $1 million per person in the country. No. Wrong. To say such a thing is to show evidence that your brain is switched off. You aren’t even thinking about what comes out of your mouth.
We have convinced several generations not to think at all.
And the worst part is, the people who don’t know anything, and don’t know how to think, are convinced that they are brilliant and should make all your decisions for you.
Folks who aren’t familiar with them should take a look at McGuffey Readers sometime.
If that doesn’t drive those who don’t to home/private/parochial school, nothing will.
If you did that, there would still be people who would not be able to calculate the percentage of correct answers.
When it comes to publik skrewls, kids aren’t customers.
They’re grist for Deep State’s diploma mills.
Deep State likes them stupid.
The ignorant are far easier to rule.
The EU? /S
