RE: Canning
Has anyone used the Presto digital canner? Apparently it is safe to use for canning low acidic vegetables and meat.

No I haven’t, but I am considering purchasing it. I have however, used my Emeril pressure/fryer combo. The instruction booklet says it will can meats etc.
However, my research results indicated that the Presto one above is the only one that the manufacturer actually did the tests and is of a size that the food safety guidelines require. For one thing, your canner has to hold 4 Qts. or more-all the timing is based on that.
So I did use the Emeril device to do some tomatoes. And it was great-almost set it and forget it.
So that’s why I’m considering getting this one, along with I have outdoor plug ins - so I could use it outdoors in the summer and avoid heating the kitchen, which I then cool down
by running the air conditioner. Ha.
The one drawback, on the safety site - I forget the exact name-it did mention that the manufacturer was not forthcoming with sharing all the data on their testing.
I would be ok with this canner for high acid foods. After I tried it out, I might also be ok with low acid foods. I was hoping there would be additional data later regarding this product—it would be so much handier than using the canner on the stove and great for low acid foods, if the data was available.

I have a flat top stove, which doesn’t conduct enough even heat for a traditional canner. Thought this one would work.
