My little town fundraises for everything. We have wagon trains (yes, horses, wagons, and horse drawn buggies). We roast a pig in the ground and sell pork plates. The pig is donated. A farm is volunteered for parking, camping, and pig roasting. They also have a pig roast and wagon train each year for St. Jude.
Sometimes there is gospel singing but the gospel group and the beer drinkers have opposite sides of the ground. There is prayer before food and even the drunks are all in for it and respectful. Sometimes it’s ‘no beer’ allowed and sometimes it’s BYOB. Most of the drinking is done after dark by the riders that choose to camp overnight. Daylight is family time.
