Why the government cannot answer the UFO question
American Thinker ^ | 06/09/2021 | Robert Arvay

The anticipated release of a government report about UFOs (or UAPs) later this month has created a lot of public discussion about what might be included in that report, and perhaps more importantly, what might be excluded. But in the end, the government does not know, nor can it, what the UAPs really are, or are not, because they are a paradox.

Briefly stated, a paradox occurs when two statements of supposed facts are perceived to contradict each other. The UAP paradox is that the UAPs behave as if they wished to avoid detection, yet they get detected anyway. Why is that a paradox? Because, any technology that is capable of the reported flight characteristics of the UAPs, capabilities that exceed anything earthly we know about, and indeed, can seem to violate the known laws of physics, must surely be capable of stealth technology vastly exceeding ours — and ours is fairly good, and getting better, despite having been first developed in its present form only in recent decades.

In short, if the UAPs are the product of advanced technology, as they seem to be, then either they wish to hide or not. If they wish to hide, we should never, ever, be able to detect them. If they do not wish to hide, we should see them frequently, under conditions of irrefutable evidence. The paradox is that they do neither. They hide, and then they don't hide. What could be the explanation for that?

I consider the hypothesis of alien spacecraft in our skies plausible but lacking sufficient evidence to persuade an honest skeptic. Indeed, I consider it even less plausible that UAPs are the product of earthly technology, because that also presents a paradox.

...who knows what people whom had never seen a flying machines of any kind, except maybe a tethered hot air balloon, were actually describing...

As a general rule, people aren't that stupid. There were sightings before the advent of the hot air balloon.

The compartmentalization theory taken to its logical conclusion would mean: The Navy can’t get their electromagnet catapult to reliably work and at the very same time, there’s another group at DoD that has created tech that would render the catapult obsolete? It just doesn’t sound plausible.

Actually, it sounds like government.

What we can agree on is that I have my doubts about the whole UFO thing...especially when it comes to the assumptions made by the “enthusiast” crowd about what they are and what they may be here for. There is something to the phenomena, I believe, but I certainly don’t like the smell of a lot of it.

No evidence I can cite for my own beliefs...but just the trends seen in the reports of such phenomena and the trends of human history.

My apologies if some sarcasm was intended by you... I do mean you no offense.

My apologies also, sometimes my words sound caustic when that’s not my intent. Now, in all seriousness, I actually agree with much of what you say. I agree that some reports do seem to be credible but unfortunately none of them seem probable and that’s what bothers me. It also seems that many of the sighting/kidnapping reports keep coming from the same people over and over. Then there are the reports that track along with movies, especially Contact, my God how many people describe the machinery seen in that movie as their claim. So that’s why I’ve taken the stance that until there is actual credible scientific evidence of ET’s, I’m not going to jump to the conclusion that every UFO is an ET, or even evidence thereof.

That should be provable, not probable.

I know why, because you want it to be true.

Actually, it has more to do with wanting to find a reasonable explanation for some rather outlandish observations and an avalanche of testimony. An ET solution seems more likely than some of the more mundane theories.

Quick! The Arizona’s audits coming out! We need some distractions quick!

It surprises me that they thought of this solution back in 1947.

So a solution that includes a belief in something for which there is no credile evidence is what seems most probable to you. Amazing.

One might say the same thing about your belief in the electron, assuming that you harbor such a idea.

There is credible evidence of an ET/UFO connection. Lots of it. You either haven't looked into this issue very much or you are really jaded.

Oh well. The two of us won't lose much sleep over this because it really doesn't make any difference in either of our lives. If an ET presence ever becomes known and verified a lot of people will have some serious coping issues.

Is the 6502 in your moniker related to that wonderful old uP?

As far as electrons go, we know they exist in both forms as matter and as a wave so again there is proof of the electron, while there is no proof of ET life. So I really don’t understand your electron statement.
I guess I’ve just never seen any credible evidence of ET life anywhere. Where is this credible scientific evidence? I ask because I hear atronomers and astrophyscists all the time make the claim that humans have not yet discovered any credible scientific evidence of ET’s anywhere. So I really don’t know what you’re talking about. Unless you’re making the claim that because there are so many planets around so many stars that somewhere there just has to be life somewhere as being credible evidence. I would say this, my own personal gut feeling about life in the universe is thus: I think it probable that the universe is teeming with simple life where-ever life can survive, but I find the proposition that the universe is teeming with intelligent ET’s to be improbable because of the great filters life on any planet eventually must survive to become intelligent life. Remember, all of our knowledge about life comes from just one data point, and that is life on earth. Human beings are the only intelligent life in the universe we know of and the only intelligent life for which there is any evidence what-so-ever. Just sayin.

Apples and oranges. A program like electromagnetic cats is far different than a compartmentalized TS-SCI code word program. I can’t believe you actually compare the two with a straight face. Unbelievable.

No, I was not a yooper, although I did live up there for a few years in a town called Menominee. I will say this, for people who want to be left alone and just live a quiet life, the UP is a great place to live, especially if you like to fish and hunt; you’re in paradise.

The 6502 was a microprocessor used in the 1980s.

... we know they exist in both forms as matter and as a wave so again there is proof of the electron...

Nobody has seen an electron. We know of their existence through empirical experimentation and faith in our mathematics and assumptions.

The physical proof of ETs seems to be a protected secret; however, there are thousands of credible witnesses who claim to have witnessed both craft and creatures. I don't think ALL of those people are lying nor do I think they were unable to perceive the nature of their observations. If you assume that even a small portion of the observations are based upon truth and faithfully reported, then the evidence is plentiful. I tend to believe some of the witnesses due to the person and nature of the individuals.

Then the old CIA axiom: Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Astronauts and scientists swing both ways on the ET issue. Even the POPE, for what that may be worth, said we'd best get ready to meet ET. (I'm Lutheran) I find it very hard to believe that anyone of Faith could possibly believe that God created a gigantic universe only to populate a single little dot on the fringe. He did, after all, create us in order to share love.

Its good to know that you know what God was thinking.
Do you give any thought to the great filters that life faces from its humble single cell beginnings. For instance, maybe Earth was the first to form life, or the first place where life took hold and has advanced this far. Then there are the mass extinction events, which life/humans are going to face in the future. Maybe there are other intelligent being in the universe but we’re so far apart from each other we all end up extimct before any are known to each other. Check this out, and there are more discussions of this at their website, they’re a great source of scientific information.

I'll check it out.

It is so nice to be able to discuss something with someone who holds different opinions without getting into a shouting match. That is certainly one benefit to hanging out with a conservative crowd. My younger brother is a leftist-extremist, and resorts to cussing and insults right away.

When it is necessary to face facts the way they stand, I don't disagree with anything you say. I'm just holding out for something new and exciting besides American politics. Its a big Cosmos, anything is feasible. Even rubbing butts with ET.
