This is as it is with everything in nature, a giant war for survival. Dinosaurs lost, mammals won, etc.
Avocados aren't killing Gaia.

In a market economy this should correct itself. Avocados become pricier and demand slackens until we reach a price point that reflects the high water consumption. Pay $8 for an avocado you will eat less guacamole.
But I fear that our economy is too messed with for any rational adjustments.
Also California needs to double its reservoir system.

Compared to Indian, Italian and Chinese food, Mexican food is quite bland to me and guacamole is the most over rated glop they make.
Why do they have to re-fry the beans? Couldn't get it right the first time?
What happens when you cross a Mexican with a Chinese?
You get a car thief who can't drive.

Geesh, Leftists! If they need a lot of water, we’ll just chop down more rain forest and plant them there.
At least they’re trees. Better than a bunch of cows on some flooded out, barren Amazonian pasture.

My tree had two crops in 2020. I think I most have 300-400 per. I gave so many away.

I grew up in SE LA county in California. I used to go around my suburban neighborhood and collect Avocados( with the owners permission) by the bag load, for free, and munch down on them. I eat them unprocessed right out of the skin, so I pre-date the “Fad” by many years. Presently I live in Hawaii and have at certain times of the year so many on my trees, I give them away, can’t eat that many that fast. My neighbor has an orchard as do friends. So I have virtually a year round supply, for free or very little cost, there are many kinds of Avocados and they mature at different times.
My point? Pick a Fad food you can get locally.
It is easier on the wallet.

If Switzerland imports 19,000 tons of avocados and has a population of about 8 and a quarter million people, that works out to almost 5 pounds of avocado per person per year.

The dirty little secret about avocados, is the cartels are taking over the industry.
