I struggled with the law of the jungle the other day when my two Feists killed a baby rabbit and a bird all in the same day. The bird did himself in. He flew right into the mouth of my youngest. Actually, so did the bunny. He came through the chain-link fence into their yard. They hunt together so the bunny never had a chance.
I am of the opinion that dogs, being domesticated, throw a monkey wrench into the 'law of the jungle'.
They are artificially in place by the hand of man. Their counterpart in the natural world are wolves, foxes, and coyotes (and dingoes, who eat babies).
Dogs are humans with four legs, in the grand scheme of things.
Mother nature knows this.
And as has previously been discussed, cats are from the underworld.

DH put chicken wire around the bottom of our fencing to prevent small cats from escaping and also would prevent baby rabbits from coming into the lions’ den. Cheap fix and he just wired it to the existing fence.
