Oscars haven’t been relevant since they gave Best Picture to Shakespeare in Love.
Maybe if the show was an hour long more people would watch ? You could get through all the important awards that fast.
Years ago the wife and all of her sophisticated girlfriends with dress to the nines and all meet up at the movie theater to watch the Oscars and pay 20 or 30 something dollars have a couple glasses of champagne and this was a regular occurrence for many years
Just as anecdotal evidence she could totally give a crap now
I would argue it was only women interested before and they were only interested in what the stars would wear
Who says we hear nothing but bad news?
So people don’t want to be lectured to by woke celebrities who make movies that virtually no-one wants to see?

I wonder if more people actually watch the NASCAR race at Talladega yesterday afternoon?
No one watched the movies. Why should they care about the awards? Plus who wants to be lectured about social justice du jour?
Actually this trend is just reflecting a trend in art of art for art’s sake with woke values. It is considered low class to make movies that might appeal to a large segment of the population, which is why no one watches them and they have to receive awards to encourage studios to continue making them and continuing to speak “truth” to the plebians.
The way to get rich making movies is to make everything an expense.

All they do is preach at you. They put out propaganda movies and you are supposed to be brainwashed by them.
And to get money from Deep State for services rendered.

This was posted on a political forum I’m on. This is literally the only minute of the Oscars I’ve seen, and it makes me certain my decision to not watch was correct.

“The PC nonsense will continue until the ratings improve.”

I just realized we haven’t watched an Oscar Best Picture since 1998. Oh well.
