Inflation is coming.
Look no further than Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble sharing plans this week to raise prices to offset rising commodity costs. The costs of raw materials, ranging from lumber to resin, are surging, so companies are taking steps to protect profits.
ING Chief International Economist James Knightley is forecasting consumer prices will continue to rise in the near term and could gain almost 4% by May, compared with the same time a year ago. The consumer price index, which tracks how much U.S. consumers pay for a basket of goods, rose 2.6% in March from the year-ago period, according to the Department of Labor.
Low inventory is helping companies flex their pricing power, he said.
Moody’s analyst Linda Montag said that she doesn’t view higher prices as a competitive advantage because all consumer companies are facing higher commodity costs. Besides Coke and P&G, PepsiCo, Kimberly-Clark, General Mills and J.M. Smucker have addressed raising prices. And consumers might not even notice that they’re paying more for diapers or soda.
“Consumer companies across the board have gotten very savvy about how to implement price increases without just slapping on five to 10% price increases...

I do not like 11.2 oz beer containers.

Tell me about it...
667 ml bottles of beer, now 500 ml. Same price
And baby beers (323 ml is standard size now...). Seen that 300 ml is on the way...
In round numbers, $4 per gallon would be about $1 per liter.

That’s cheap. Stop yer whining...
55 or 56 pesos per liter in the Philippines ($1.16 - about $4.64 a gallon) This in a poor-ass 3rd world country.

We’re boycotting like 15 different companies/products, so I think we’re actually saving money. And I am one of those people who don’t mind one bit doing without to send the message.
As always, they will cut quantity rather than increase price; a 'gallon' of milk will, in reality, become 7 pints or similar. Those big Butterfinger candy bars of old are becoming Butterfinger Bites!
But I don't think this will be a creeping inflation, as some say. The jump in prices is already being noticed widely... also gasoline prices. This year the already inflated federal budget has jumped from $4.5 trillion to over $12 trillion!
Talk of increased taxes is just another way of punishing consumers; there is no reasonable non-painful way to raise that much revenues in a year. The present madministration knows this. They all have their deals worked out. Now the dollar must fall so China can be the economic super power and America can be the newest banana republic. People will squabble for food and clothing while their 'betters' lounge on Mt. Olympus drinking mint julips and discussing the Great Reset.
This was Jimmy Carter's dream. He just didn't have a lying traitorous media.
Yep, I’ve been noticing several items are a bit short.
I wish they would just be up front, the sneaky crap is inconvenient.

Because White Castle hamburgers are tasty. They were probably the first to make and sell sliders, way before sliders became sliders. I even like the frozen ones which you heat up in the microwave.
Prices are ridi5ng in just about every category. Supply chain constraints as the world rebalances and moves away from China coupled with more regulations and risk will continue to drive prices and inflation up. Won’t matter to large corporations who will have killer years in 2021.
” and this really did start under the Zero/HidenBiden administration.”
I think it started long before Obama
I compare prices for each unit of measure...its the only way to get the best deal....
