Heh, oddly enough, considering what a whacko I've been with CPUs (I forget how many I have around here) I don't have a single AMD. I almost bit on the cheap Walmart store-brand Ryzen 3 laptop based on reviews, but the price shot up $100-$150 and it suddenly occurred to me, I don't travel, why get a laptop, particularly one that was going to look low-end in just a few years. :^) R Pi for under $100 is the way to go for everyday computing. I don't game.

“Intel’s going to last until it can’t maintain its non-mobile market share and margins on chips. They’ve got a lot of fab capacity of their own. Apparently they’re still confident that they can pull off 10 nm architecture, but TSMC is already making 5 nm, and probably has 4 nm coming (perhaps in weeks).”

At what point does quantum indeterminancy start to mess with the hardware?

Always. :^)

When Intel got to 14 nm, they did it first, and were the only one for a good while. Part of this was to bleed off rogue electron debris.

In the late 90s AMD has a far better product... then they got too full of themselves and lost it all..

I believe it was in the 80s when Intel farmed out some of its chip production to AMD...

$17.09! That’s enough to be a very nice fat percentage move as well. BOY that stock has soared over the past couple of years. Would have been an ideal pandemic bear market buy.

The ARM purchase came with some “hands-off” conditions to ARM customers.

If Chipotle Mexican Grill (down a little today, still well over $1500 a share) can continue to rise, when the only way their growth can catch up with their market cap is if all other restaurants go out of business and there's a worldwide famine, there's no way NVDA isn't a great long term hold.

"AMD is a far better line of processors, now."

I was working just down the street at Signetics when AMD started out as a company. Drove past their first location every day.

For those who don’t know, the end of Intel began back before 2000 when they started firing Americans and hiring Indians.
Back in 2005, they started doing the same thing with Managers.
In 2015 they started their Diversity Plan and many of the Heavy Lifters in the company retired rather than being forced to hire sub-standard workers.

Then to top it off, they began firing people for totally random reasons and then hiring more Indians.

People who tried to tell upper management about problems which were being covered up were fired.

The hiring of Pat Gelsinger (the chief designer of the 486) was the best decision the company has made since they made Paul Ordelini CEO.

It might be too late to fix the company as it is now a very political and dangerous company to work for.

funny, i kinda always looked at OC the same as a turbo, if you need it, it just means the engine is too small...

Xeon processors are likely to continue to hold a major part of the server market for at least the next five years, regardless of other competing CPUs.

It depends on how the server chips based on ARMv9 are produced starting later this year.
