KEY POINTS
The Supreme Court erased a federal appeals court decision holding that former President Trump violated the Constitution by blocking his critics on Twitter.
The justices vacated the decision from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and sent it back to the lower court with instructions to dismiss the case as “moot,” or no longer active, now that Trump is a private citizen.
The action means the lower court’s decision will no longer bind future judges.
The announcement came in an order list and without a written explanation of the court’s reasoning. There were no noted dissents.

The current group in SCOTUS is largely useless.
This means that the current resident can block critics on Twitter.
It’s a small gesture.
This doesn’t seem helpful, since it doesn’t resolve the issue.
They want to make sure no one can sue Bidet for sanitizing his feedback.
Exactly.
This is awesome.
Let the blocking by puppetjoek's Twitter minders begin.
Then we'll see yet another layer of Lefty hypocrisy slathered onto the world.
Maybe someone should sue Youtube and Facebook over the inaccuracy of their likes and dislikes since they edit them.
Now that they have declared anything Trump moot, back to business as usual.
So it only applied to Trump, giving Biden freedom to do whatever he wants. Shame.
/bingo
Justice Thomas opened the door to regulating Twitter, FB and Google as public utilities. He made a compelling case.
IANAL, but I don’t think that’s what this ruling means. They vacated it as ‘moot’ which basically means it is no longer relevant since Trump doesn’t hold office. But if any current politicians block people from their twitter accounts, then a new case can be filed.
He's 100% right in my opinion. Is that from this current ruling, or from another case?
Its the opinion in this case.
Its tight that there needs to be some form of reexamination of 230, it can’t be both ways a public forum that people can be blocked and a private platform that they can banned Trump.
It could if Twitter was in a competitive market, but they’re basically the only forum out there.
This case. I would post a link but I don’t know who. This is the case heading:
SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES
JOSEPH R. BIDEN, JR., PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED
STATES, ET AL. v. KNIGHT FIRST AMENDMENT
INSTITUTE AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, ET AL.
ON PETITION FOR WRIT OF CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED
STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE SECOND CIRCUIT
No. 20–197. Decided April 5, 2021
who = how
They did that because Biden is blocking people and some were saying “wait a minute”.
