Have you heard of Nike’s Air Max 90 “Bacon” sneakers? The pink-and-brown shoes mimic the aesthetic of the popular breakfast food. They’re pretty neat looking, and they’re reprising a similar pair released back in 2004. The shoes go on sale today, but if you’re not content with your footwear simply looking like bacon, now it can smell like it, too.
Oscar Mayer is launching bacon-scented shoelaces to accompany the release of the Air Max Bacons. The beloved company, known for their iconic hot dogs, are giving away the laces as part of a sweepstakes. You can enter by tweeting #OscarCookMyKicks and #Sweepstakes. You can see the full list of qualifications and rules here.
The best part? You don’t need to own a pair of the Air Max Bacons to enter. Obviously, they’d look (and smell) great on those kicks, but they’re here to spruce up any pair of sneakers. Or boots. Or whatever other shoes you use laces for. (My smelly old Doc Martens could certainly use a bacon-scented air freshener to bring them back to life.
The bacon-scented shoelaces also physically resemble bacon. They’ve got fake white fat splashes against a pinkish crinkly backdrop. Because why not go the extra mile? If your shoes are going to smell like bacon, they might as well look like you’ve physically laced a couple of strips of meat into them.
“There are few things better than the delicious smell of freshly cooked Oscar Mayer Bacon, but you shouldn’t have to turn on the stove to fill your nostrils with the heavenly scent,” said Megan Lang, associate director of Oscar Mayer, in a press release. “We know bacon lovers can’t get enough of it, so we’ve created these bacon-scented laces to give fans the chance to carry their bacon love everywhere, whether they’re styling the hottest new sneakers or sizzling up an old pair of shoes.”
Another bonus? According to HypeBeast, the shoelaces are scented with real Oscar Mayer Hardwood Smoked Bacon. How’s that for authentic?
Bacon scented shoelaces ... the dog will love them!
Won’t this offend Muslims?
Heck, suppose you are out walking around, and someone is walking their dog, and the dog starts chewing on your shoes?
Its so ridiculous!
Nike should release their sweat-scented line of running shoes.
This would be a tribute to the sweat-shop slave labor that they employ in Red China, to manufacture their products at the cheapest possible cost.
my thought too
Heck, I just made some shoelace-scented bacon!
On the other hand bacon scented rope might be useful to restrain captured jihadis.
When my dog was a pup I had just bought new leather furniture and I got him some rawhide chew bones.
I was about to give him the 1st treat when I looked at the furniture and thought “WTF are you doing?” LOL
And mad dogs an Englishmen would be encouraged to bite!
I can see the first lawsuit filed when a dog chases down and mauls the feet of a passerby.
Imagine showing up at the Westminster Dog Show wearing them.
...now if they made bacon flavored chewing gum...
Yoo-hoo, over here!
You think maybe Moses was wearing a pair of these?
Exodus 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
;)
Great thing to wear bear hunting.
I am reminded of the Seinfeld episode where jerry is spitting out the mutton into napkins and stuffing it in his coat pocket, elaine snags the coat and cant figure out why these dogs are harassing her on her way home..
I have bacon scented gun oil. I love opening the cabinet
I have a Hoppes#9 air freshener in my truck!
I’ll have two eggs over easy and a side of shoelaces.

First shoestring potatoes. Now shoestring bacon.
