The World Health Organization (WHO) is not advocating the use of anti-parasitic drug Ivermectin for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19, its country representative told House lawmakers on Tuesday.
According to WHO Representative to the Philippines Rabindra Abeyasinghe, prescribing Ivermectin without statistically significant evidence of its efficacy against COVID-19 is “harmful” since it would give “false confidence” to the public.
This comes as several lawmakers, during a House health committee hearing on Tuesday, pushed for the use of the medicine for COVID-19 treatment and prevention.
“The issue with the Ivermectin is that based on initial study and the currently available data, it is not strong enough for us to advocate the use of Ivermectin for treatment of COVID or prevention of COVID,” Abeyasinghe said.
“We looked closely at the European Medical Association, they concluded the same thing, we looked at the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration), they concluded the same thing…What they are recommending is that we look at carefully-planned, controlled clinical trials to have proof that Ivermectin works,” he added.
“That is the global evidence that we have, not only from WHO, but also from very stringent regulation authorities and medicines authority both in Europe and in North America,” he further said.
“Without proof, what we are actually creating is a false confidence that if they take Ivermectin, they are going to be protected and that could actually be harmful. That is why it requires a carefully-planned clinical study to understand whether this has a protective efficacy,” Abeyasinghe went on.
“That evidence is currently not available globally,” he added.
The WHO official noted that an initial report, which originated from a study in Australia, was made on Ivermectin’s efficacy to suppress the development of the virus that causes COVID-19.

RE: They use the concentration of Ivermectin that is a magnitude higher, meaning almost 1,000 times higher than what is normally used in humans,” he said.
This is what I call a STRAWMAN ARGUMENT. NO RESPONSIBLE DOCTOR I KNOW who has prescribed and administered Ivermectin for their patients have used a dosage of 1,000 times higher than normal.
The WHO Chinese and the democrat communists are trying to kill as many people as possible and keep us locked down.
HCQ saying no good and now Ivermectin no good when they have been shown to be working.
Because if they did, the US should be on course to revoke its bogus “Emergency Use Authorization” for the globalist excuse for universal human tracking and control.
“According to WHO...prescribing Ivermectin without statistically significant evidence of its efficacy against COVID-19 is “harmful” since it would give “false confidence” to the public.”
Let me append the above a bit:
“According to WHO...prescribing Ivermectin without statistically significant evidence of its efficacy against COVID-19 is “harmful” since it would give “false confidence” to the public, AND POSSIBLY DEPRIVE THE DRUG COMPANIES OF HUGE REVENUE.”
Can’t have anything that will make the *vaccine* unnecessary, can we?
Absolutely correct, sir.
WHO: “Who do you believe, us, or your lying eyes?”
#17 I wouldn’t believe hand washing technique from WHO.
WHO announcement: Water does not work
Fauci: I agree
You are correct.
They are wrong.
For those who may not know, last April they tested concentrated Ivermectin and a bunch of other possible drugs known for their anti-viral properties, in test tubes to see if any were effective. That test was at 1000 times human dosage and Ivermectin did great. The problem with follow-up work with Ivermectin was that no one would make money on it, so no funding for large-scale testing. Also, unsaid, was that it had the potential to erode support for the vaccines, of which big dollars were at stake.
However, not every country uses the rationale of our FDA as to whether to approve or even test potential treatments, and some believe it’s better to try to treat people who have the virus, rather than telling them to go home, take Tylenol, and hope for the best. The dosage used by the other countries for Ivermectin was the same as the long-term dosage prescribed for its other uses (200 micrograms per kilogram of body weight) - in other words, NOT the dosage used in the early testing, instead far less. The results, basically all the reporting, showed it to be highly effective.
