Saw one while I was on the pier at Okaloosa Island, just calmly moving along about twenty feet off the shore. It never broke the surface, but it’s outline in the water was incredible. They do get big.

I used to see one at Shalimar Bridge at sundown, and that’s what we called him, “Sundown”, because he would be there practically every day at sunset..............

The eagle stingray in the Gulf of Eilat must reach 12-15 feet wide at its widest. Its shadow can scare hell out of divers.

I love Okaloosa island. We took a couple there a few years back and decided to take a midnight stroll. It was a full moon and the water was still as could be. So we ventured out in the water about knee deep. I saw this sand shark coming our way. It was oblivious to us because it was chasing the small fishes. The wives about had a heart attack and me and the other guy thought it was funny as all get out. It didn’t spook until the flash from the camera went off and it took off like a bolt.
