Cox Media Group is moving into the post-Rush Limbaugh era with new programs on news/talkers WSB-WSBB-FM (750/95.5) Atlanta and WOKV-FM Jacksonville (104.5).
Erik Erickson moves from 4-6pm to 12-3pm at WSB, followed by one-hour of Sean Hannity (3-4pm) and then Mark Arum from 4-7pm, who adjusts from his current 6-8pm show hours. The final two hours of Hannity will air from 7-9pm.
“I would never have gotten into radio without encouragement from Rush Limbaugh who has been gracious over the years with a lot of great advice and guidance,” Erickson, who has been with the station for a decade, said in a release. “It was an honor to fill in for him on his show, and it is overwhelming and humbling to move into the slot Rush occupied with such distinction for so long. I appreciate and intend to live up to the responsibility that comes with this time slot.”
Arum has been with WSB since 1997 and also serves as the traffic anchor for WSB-TV’s “Channel 2 Action News This Morning.” He remains as the youngest inductee ever into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame in 2017.
“When I was hired at 95.5 WSB over 23 years ago, I could never have envisioned that I would ever get the opportunity to host a drive time show on the best news and talk station in the nation. It’s a cliché, but this is truly a dream come true,” Arum said. “I invite all of Metro Atlanta and North Georgia to get all the news, weather and traffic they need, and the entertainment they want every afternoon with me and my pals on 95.5 WSB, Atlanta’s News and Talk.”
In Jacksonville, Mark Kaye, who recently stepped down from his morning show on CHR WAPE-FM to focus on his talk show at WOKV-FM, moves from 10am-12pm to 12-3pm. The syndicated Brian Kilmeade will now air from 9am-12pm on WOKV-FM. The show previously aired from 9-10am and 6-8pm on the station.
“As a life-long fan of Rush Limbaugh, I am still adjusting to a world without his voice,” Kay remarked. “Producing a daily show in ‘Rush’s timeslot’ is a daunting task for any broadcaster, but I am grateful to the leadership team at CMG and 104.5 WOKV for placing their trust in me. With the audience's help I promise to do my best to keep Rush’s spirit, energy, and unique brand of conservative entertainment alive. This is an incredibly bittersweet opportunity.”
“I am thrilled that we have the opportunity to elevate internal CMG talent to these critically essential dayparts on our news-talk stations,” Senior VP, Radio Rob Babin added. “Mark Kaye, Erick Erickson and Mark Arum each have a proven track record and commitment to our audience and communities. I have no doubt their success will continue as they expand to new dayparts and reach new audiences.”
All changes go into effect Monday, March 22.
Living Jacksonville, Mark Kaye is pretty good, he’s not Rush Limbaugh, but who is, it’s time to move on and Mark Kaye I think can do a credible job.
I haven’t listened to WSB radio since Rush stopped broadcasting, and I see there are very good reasons NEVER to listen again. Erickson??? BLAHHHHHHH!
OMG!
This s pure evil to replace Rush’s time-slot with Erik Erickson.
He’s a never-Trump on the level of ben shapiro.
Atlanta...you are screwed.
I expect the huge vacuum left by Rush to be filled with droning faux conservatives...Michael Medveds galore. Now that Rush is gone, I’ve just turned it off.
Derek Hunter moves to Noon-3pm at WCBM [Ball-mer, Merry Land] in early April.
Announced this morning.
Boy, that'll get them to tune in...
Conservative talk radio is gone. Time to move on.
Erickson will ruin that time slot. Rush stopped using him as a fill-in for very good reason
Erickson, along with Kemp, Duncan, Raffensberger and the majority of the GOP define Never Trump.
Erik Erickson — Isn’t he the huge NeverTrumper who banned Trump from a Red State gathering during the primary season?
What a douche and a terrible replacement for Rush.
So that’s one station reshuffling, and Ericson is a pudgy statist.
You’re the industry insider.
WTF is going to happen with the show?
It cannot carry on as it is.
Except for Stein most of these other guys are weak.
I doubt any host will be syndicated like Rush was in that time slot.
I’ve continued to listen and am fascinated by the trend of Rush’s past insights seeming to be as timely today. He was a giant of a genius and cemented Americana on his own terms, imo. Well done Rush.
That’s stations in bigger markets. There’s still no word on what’s gonna happen with the show.
Agree. Steve Bannon is my go to now.
If only they could get the Mark Levin to fill that slot.
Steve Deace is on 11-1 central and then an hour podcast.
TWO stations was what I meant to type.
Mark Steyn is my favorite, too, although I appreciate all their efforts.
