Ditching Amazon Prime and looking for alternative websites to purchase things. For example, I now get most of my clothing directly from LL Bean.
What is a good place to buy books online? I still buy a lot of books. An obvious choice is Barnes & Noble but looking to see if there are any other book-buying websites I should be aware of.
Thanks for sharing your private list.
AbeBooks.com
I publish my novels through KDP and sell (print and Kindle books) them on Amazon. The only other place I sell them (ebooks) is Smashwords. I’m going to look into publishing through Draft2Digital. I hope that works out.
Torrents.
What an interesting site. Thanks for posting it.
I had just assumed Overstock was a leftist site because of the notice they had on the top of their homepage last year giving full-throated support to Black Lives Matter, blaming America as racist, saying they would focus on hiring people who aren’t white, and giving a paid day off for their workers to go vote. I was avoiding them, but it looks like they are still clearly better than Amazon. I wouldn’t call them “conservative” though.
I look at eBay first. Bookfinder if it’s an odd one. You’ll buy from thrift outlets and bookstores.
Barnes & Noble
thriftbooks.com
Consider this.....
By an Amazon Kindle and then the ap Overdrive aka Libby that allows you to access books on line via your local Library card.
You can actually get books from the library and from Amazon for free.
You can also access audio books in addition to those in print
Smash words is one.
I used to buy books from Amazon. Now I am trying to ONLY get something on AMazon if I must have it and can get no place else. Amazon is evil in many ways plus won’t sell books they don’t ilke.
I recently got 3 books at Thrift books, they stunk like hell and had to air them out for 3 weeks. I used to get books at ABE books.
Are you talking new or used?
As much as I despise Bozos, Amazon does a hell of a job.
When it comes to breadth of products, ease of use, pricing, service, reliability, quick delivery, they’re hard to beat.
The real mystery is why are liberals so much better at creating great mega companies like Amazon, Google, FB, Apple, Microsoft Twitter, etc. than us conservatives, even though we think of ourselves to be the pro business side.
We conservatives had better save some books in hardcopy for our descendants. Anything that is on the Internet could be altered or just disappear.
