1st Moderna just the other day. 81 with heart condition,really no problem to report, maybe a little more tired at nap time. Getting old is a bitch, but it beats the alternative.

I am not familiar with what URI/ systemic failure is.
At almost 81 year old, I do know one thing for sure from personal experience.. which is that daily aerobic exercise will overcome lot of health problems. If I have the discipline to drag my butt to the Gym every day for 20 more years, I see no reason to feel any less athletic at age 100.
Since I began the exercise routine, my heart problems are gone, my blood sugar levels are normal, knee & hip joint pain is gone, panic attacks are gone, and energy levels are unbelievable. I never see anyone over age 70 in the Gym. Which is very sad.

It is very very very simple to remain athletic at any age. All it needs is daily aerobic exercise.

Hope your symptoms will not be any worse than after the 1st shot.

Good for you! I’ll get my second Pfizer dose in ten-days. The first shot did a number on me. Hours after the shot, I got a weird pain into my neck (on the injection side of my body) that quickly migrated to my jaw. It felt like someone punched me. It lingers a bit even to this day, two-weeks later. I’m retired military and have had scores of vaccines over the years and never felt anything like this.

I’m hoping the 2nd dose goes better.

My experience is very similar. 2nd Shot last Tuesday morning. No problems. Wednesday felt tired and had to push myself to do anything.
Thursday back to normal.

I’ve had both moderna with the last administered on Feb 9. First shot, no problems, just discomfort at injection site. Second one put me out of service for the next day: fever, headache, tired. By the second day, back to mostly normal, just the hurt at the injection site remained. Took tylanol for a few days after second injection.

Now almost one month later, don’t see any remaining problems. One thing I did notice which was remarkable, my AIC dropped almost a point from above 7 to just over 6.

Are they counting the vaccine deaths as Covid deaths?

And then there is this:

https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/297051

The claim is made that the mortality in the young from the vaccine is
hundreds of times higher than from “coronavirus”.

~~~~~~~
... The paper interviews Aix-Marseille University Faculty of Medicine
Emerging Infectious and Tropical Diseases Unit’s Dr. Hervé Seligmann
and engineer Haim Yativ about their research and data analysis.
They claim that Pfizer’s shot causes “mortality hundreds of times greater
in young people compared to mortality from coronavirus without the
vaccine, and dozens of times more in the elderly, when the documented
mortality from coronavirus is in the vicinity of the vaccine dose, thus
adding greater mortality from heart attack, stroke, etc.”
Wife and I (82, wife a little younger) have received Pfizer #1 and #2.
Pfizer #1: Wife with no aftereffects. Me - moderate arm soreness a little more severe than annual flu vaccine.
Pfizer #2: Wife - very tired and mental fatigue for two days.
Me - slight tiredness for 24 hours. Significant arm soreness for four days.
Questions for FR colleagues:
When will you (fully vaccinated) throw away your masks and disregard social distancing?
Will you get a third (booster) jab to ward off any new variants? My wife and I shall not.
It’s hard for me to believe all the people who are shooting a vaccine into their body that’s approved for emergency use only, and which the pharmaceutical company has no liability against anything. You are basically guinea pigs...why do you place such high trust in Dr Fauci?
We got our last Pfizer injection on 26 Feb. It was supposed to be on 19 Feb. but we had ice and 8” of snow on the ground.
Husband will be 82 in a couple of weeks and I am 78. We took his brother and SIL with us, they are 88 and 87.
The first shot I had a slight muscular soreness at the injection site. Husband had no reaction at all.
The second injection we both were a little tired and chilly that afternoon but fine the next day.
Four days later I had a slight sore throat that went away on its own over the course of the day.
Yesterday husband had a sore throat and hoarseness. Today, over a week later, husband has a head cold starting.
It is normalcy bias.
It is very hard for many people to believe that the “experts”, .gov, and the mass media would lie to them.
Some lessons just have to be learned the hard way.
Out of respect for others if a place of business requires a mask, I will wear one. Not a big deal as some others make it out to be. Common sense applies! I’m 77 and wife is 75. I had both Pfizer shots and she has both Moderna. Not a problem at all for either of us.
A fellow truck driver friend of mine, age 67, went through a very tough time with covid. After getting over it, he went to his doctor to be cleared to work. He felt fine. Doc told him that he might as well get his first vaccine shot. Within 48 hrs he was worse than when he the covid. That was 3 days ago, and he is still in poor condition. His doc said because of the bad reaction there would be no second shot. My friend told me to never take the shots. My wife and I had already agreed that we would not.
I was in a trial for Astra Zeneca (approved in England, ought to be proposing here soon). When I became age eligible (70) for the EUA shots they unblinded me and I did receive the actual vaccine and not the placebo. Didn’t tell me the dosing regimen. Had a flu-like reaction to shot one. Reaction to shot two was so mild as to be in the range of a so-so day for a 70 year old. Got a card with the CDC seal on it giving the data.
Should have given me a t-shirt (OK to hug me I’ve been vaccinated!) but the card may become important unfortunately. At least I am being paid (if I complete all the blood draw I will get a total of $650). Burns me ups that it is taxable.
We just got our first shot (Moderna) yesterday afternoon. No problems so far. I started getting a sore arm near the injection site last night, but it’s about the same amount of pain as a tetanus shot. Today it’s feeling better hour by hour. It felt like a bruise this morning when I woke up, so I had probably slept on it by accident.
Like you, we will be upset if we can’t get our 2nd dose as scheduled. We are expecting our first grandchild any time, and we hope to be able to see the baby before he is 6 weeks old or later. If this current schedule works, we will still need to get a TDAP 2 weeks after the second Moderna dose. I hope Indiana isn’t paying attention to Biden, but we do still have the mask mandate until the end of March.
Glad your experience was fine. I am participating in the Moderna vaccine study and learned a couple of weeks ago that I had received the vaccine rather than the placebo last year. Only slight soreness like from a tetanus shot after the first shot, less after the second. Seems like troublesome reactions happen but shouldn’t prevent most from getting the shots.
You all bought very good insurance against getting seriously sick with covid in the future. Vaccine is same as insurance. You don’t feel any better when you buy it, but is a God-send if calamity strikes.
