A New York college has suspended a student for saying on social media that "a man is a man and a woman is a woman." State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo sent an email to education student Owen Stevens informing him that he was suspended from mandatory teaching programs for posting Instagram videos expressing conservative ideology.

There is a marked difference between homosexual rights and transgender rights which people ignore. Homosexuals demanded acceptance (and approval to some extent) but it mainly meant an insistence that people refrain from criticism or discrimination. Transgender activists take it a step further. They demand specific behavior by everyone, not just a willingness to tolerate. They demand people lie and say a man can be a woman and vice versa and refer to hims as hers and hers as hims or its or whatever pronoun it wants. They demand people allow transgenders to usurp privileges previously granted particular sexes. They demand far more than live and let live as most homosexuals want. They want obeisance and affirmation and required acts. A few years ago there was a major fight about Obama Care and whether the government had the right to force people to buy a product. It is the same issue in transgenderism: insist on tolerance or insist on coerced behavior.
“A Man Is a Man, a Woman Is a Woman” is a true statement. Perhaps they want him to say “A Man Is a Woman, a Woman Is a Man”.
If he had said “A trans man is a man” he would get a free scholarship.

That is true. Homosexual rights groups are pushing to force people to recognize and conform to their definition of spouse and parent but no one pretends that the homosexual partners are the opposite sex from their genes. One is cultural coercion, I suppose, while the other is pseudo-scientific coercion.
Since this is a taxpayer-funded university, a state actor at the university has allegedly abridged a student’s constitutionally enumerated right to free speech imo, which is prohibited by Section 1 of 14th Amendment (14A).
Excerpted from the 14th Amendment:
"Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article."
Consider that people won a 14A-related case against UC Berkeley awhile back for the same reason.

The problem is that Owen Stevens, if he is a U.S. citizen, may not necessarily know that 14A exists.
I suspect that another problem is that taxpayers may have paid the settlement in the U.C. Berkeley case, likewise with a 2nd Amendment-related case in Los Angeles.
