"Frankenstein" is an instrumental by The Edgar Winter Group from their 1972 album They Only Come Out at Night.
The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for one week in May 1973, being replaced by Paul McCartney's "My Love". It sold over one million copies.

I saw Edgar Winter with Leon Russell playing in a bar in 1988. One of the best shows ever
I got to see Rick Derringer and Edgar Winter together in Myrtle Beach in 1990 at a little beach bar.
The reason they called it “Frankenstein” was because in the old days you cut and spliced recording tape together, and they had to cut it into hundreds of pieces and they were all running around getting them in the order they wanted and splicing them together.

Edgar is the one I remember from looking at pics. Ronnie Montrose was with them for a while in 72’ it says. I still listen to Montrose with Sammy Hagar a lot....

Saw Edgar and Johnny Winters in Tampa in 1975. l was stationed at MacDill at the time.

My age showing. The oldies/classic rock station is now playing all the music I grew up with.
And the guitarist is Rick Derringer, who came a long way from “Hang on Sloopy” and had his own hit with Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo.
Saw Group with Tull at old Michigan state fairgrounds...Woodward near 8-mile. Great Show.
Dan also sang lead on “Free Ride”, so you can definitely recognize the voice.
