I hope Trump launches Rght Wing Populism at CPAC. He is going to have leftist prosecutors trying to give him a colonoscopy for years so he will have baattles on multiple fronts.

After 2016 I also noticed that Rush was beginning to see the failure of conservatism, post Reagan. I welcomed his conversion. Bush #41 failed to carry the movement after 1988. Bush #41 was responsible for free trade, Dick Cheney and endless war, the abandonment of any push back on social issues including abortion and, of course, his evil seed, Bush #43.

Reaganite conservatism?

If Reagan were alive today he'd enthusiastically support a wall. He'd enthusiastically support drilling. He'd enthusiastically support Israel's demand that Iran not be allowed to have a nuke. He'd firmly oppose the "Paris Accords". He'd firmly believe that there are only two sexes, two genders and that you can't actually change either...not even with a scalpel or with hormones. He'd enthusiastically support expelling all 30 million of the wetbacks living here. He'd enthusiastically support low taxes. He'd enthusiastically support "if you want peace, prepare for war".

I could go on...but basically there's not a hint of a doubt that he'd be an enthusiastic supporter of Trump...and Rush.

The author tries to paint a false dichotomy Conservatism vs America First Populism. Consequently the rest of the article is pure garbage.

Conservatism was NEVER at “home” in the GOP.

Real Conservatism IS Populist

(My old tagline: “They hated Reagan too!).

No. Rush did NOT abandon conservatism. Sometimes he supported candidates that weren’t exactly Reaganites, but it was out of pragmatism. He understood that he who is not elected can never govern.

I don’t agree that the term ‘Conservatism’ deserves the bad rap that it gets. To me, conservatism has always meant doing what’s best for the country, and in the 1990s, we needed to crush unions (who literally HATE this country), and the best way was with free trade. But it went too far, obviously, and we got China and an army of middle-class Americans thrown out of work.

So we SELF-CORRECTED with Trump. Time to bring the work back here (hopefully without the union crap), while the Democrats became took over the Globalism.

In my lifetime the Democrats have been on the WRONG SIDE of every damn issue in this country (other than, maybe, going to the moon). They LOVED Russian when Russia was threatening to level our cities, they HATED Reagan for wanting to defend those same cities, and then they HATED Russia once they stopped threatening us.

They are totally f’d up, and yet here we are...

I think what is at question here is the move, slowly perhaps, but certain move to abandon civic nationalism. As demographic shifts continue and thus turning this countr into something unrecognizable to a large number of “traditional” Americans and as the resulting hostilaty to a national heritage rises, civic nationalism will be less and less popular. I have always believed it to be largely a myth, but until recently, it was demonstrably unpopular to suggest it. Pat Buchanan though managed to make a career out of it in the last 30 years.

I will always be a conservative.

Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Exodus 20
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Job 19:25
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth

Matthew 20:16
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen

Romans 3:10
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Revelation 19
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

So now that Rush can’t defend himself the naysayers come crawling from the woodwork. Rush knew that the GOP as it stood has given up sooo much ground to these leftest. It was way past time to stop going along and start fighting. Donald Trump was our last great hope ,Rush knew that.

As the Mayor of Realville he finally came to the conclusion that Conservatism Inc. was a complete failure run by sellouts. Rush was a patriot above all and realized that true change would only come from like minded compatriots.
