Several armed bystanders successfully stopped a shooting spree that left three dead, including the suspect, in a New Orleans suburb.
The shooting happened at the Jefferson Gun Outlet in the suburb of Metairie, Louisiana, around 2:50 p.m., according to a release from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Joseph Lopinto told reporters that a person went into the gun store and shooting range and fatally shot two people on Saturday. Several individuals engaged with the shooter inside the gun shop and in a parking lot outside.

The guys at my LGS all carry of course. One of them was showing me his EDC .44 magnum with 250 gr had cast lead bullets. I think they’d make a real mess of things and over penetration might be a problem.

That is more common than you think. Only the usual M.O. is for a suicidal person to go to a range, rent a gun, then shoot themselves.
Here in Michigan we had a person who rented a gun at a local shooting range, then left with the gun and shot his ex-girlfriend dead at her place of work, then shot himself. The range never even realized the gun was missing.
Amazingly, that gun range hasn't been sued out of existence yet. This was three years ago, and I believe that there may be one lawsuit still pending, so it may happen yet.
