When it comes to pizza, toppings are incredibly important. No matter how good the crust and sauce are, it doesn’t matter if a terrible topping is added to the pizza.
A new survey says that it has determined America’s least favorite pizza topping, according to a post on YouGov.com. The results are based on a poll that included 6,000 adults from the United States.
According to the results, America’s most disliked topping is anchovies. The small fish has a big taste and is often the butt of bad-pizza-topping jokes. While people not liking anchovies on pizza may not be surprising, the survey also revealed several other unpopular pizza toppings.
While 61% of respondents said that they don’t like anchovies on pizza, 52% also said that they don’t like eggplant on pizza. Artichokes were the third least popular topping, with 44% of respondents saying no to them.

I ate grits when I was in the Army stationed in FT. Jackson, SC and they reminded me of cream of wheat.
It was crushed cooked mush {corn} and served with butter and salt and pepper was OK.
But I was a young Army guy, and I even ate SOS, so you know I was hungry.
I don't order grits when I eat breakfast at a restaurant today, but I imagine that people that grew up with grits have figured out many ways to eat them.
Cornmeal and corn dodgers are just a coupla ways that I've seen and are pretty good eating.
Polenta is just an Italian variation of ground corn meal, made into a mush and then baked.
Anchovies are at the top of the list. Big surprise.
I like pineapple and artichokes (not at the same time) on my pizza.
If it comes from Sally’s or Frank Pepe’s in New Haven, I’ll eat it.
Love anchovies!
I also love pineapple, though I don’t want it near any pizza.
I don’t love broccoli, especially when it is on pizza!
I love anchovies on my pizza.
But nobody will eat one with me if they’re on it.
😔
There was even a bumper sticker: GRITS: Breakfast of Champions
The American palate can ruin just about any food. Make it too big, too sweet, too starchy, too dry—and lacking in genuine flavor!
“I love anchovies on my pizza. Order them and you get to eat the whole thing yourself”
Exactly right! I love anchovies, but no body else around me family or friends do. Suckers.
As Elon Musk would say, “the best topping is no topping.”
My dad would bring home bacon, mushroom, and onion pizza back in the 60s.
I tend to agree.
“Bacon is yuppie?”
Nah. I love bacon. It just doesn’t belong on a Pizza.
“Caesar salad is Mexican. First served at the Hotel Caesar in Tijuana.”
... by an Italian, to serve to Americans.
Furthermore, while I love me some buffalo wings, whoever first proposed putting buffalo chicken (or any kind of chicken for that matter) on a pizza should be impeached by Nancy Pelosi and given a life sentence as Adam Schiff's congressional page.
Back in 1975, I worked at Pizza Hut, and we had pizza ovens that had with 3 separate ovens, stacked one above the other.
Because it took about an hour to heat the ovens properly, we turned all 3 of them on at opening, and shut them down at night. The top and middle ovens were normally used, but if someone asked for a pizza with anchovies, that was the only time we used the bottom oven. Any pizza cooked with or after an anchovy pizza in the oven tasted like it. After closing, we had to wait until the next morning for the bottom oven to cool and spend about an hour washing it to get the stench out of the oven!

We regularly eat ham and pineapple on pizza. That is a great tasting combo
However we do like Italian sausage, mushrooms and onions.
Peppironi is currently not favored but is in fact good with the sweet sausage and mushrooms
Fish hater!
Fish hater!
Anchovies are great when finely chopped but nasty when placed on whole.
So hamburger is better than steak? I like them both.
PS hamburger does not belong on pizza, its OK
