Thank God these platforms are finding a way to break through the censorship brigade..
It’s really alarming to see what’s happening on Twitter and FB..TOTAL lockdown on free speech that doesn’t cow tow to the “100% far left, all the time” viewpoint of the day.
If you’re: a) white; b) patriotic; c) Christian; d) support Trump and/or don’t just parrot the “approved” mantra of the far left, you’re at high risk of being banished - possibly forever - from Twitter. FB less so, but check THIS out..
Saw an article the other day that FB is going to introduce AI algorithms that will automatically determine if content you post is “political” in any way. If so, they won’t necessarily flag or label it - they just won’t display it in other people’s feeds. Basically, you’ll apparently get NO notice whatsoever that whatever you posted has gone into the digital never, never land..
This total lockdown on free speech (and presumably, anything critical of the Biden/Harris “regime”) should terrify the blue blazes out of everyone. Communist China literally has more actual “free speech” than we seem to have nowadays.
So, thank God that Parler is coming back - and that Gab and Telegram appear to be thriving. We need all the alternatives to Twitter and FB we can get.
So Mr Torba, Dan Bongino is “establishment”? Really?
Torba is not wrong.
Ignoring who is funding social media sites may put you under the influence of the controlled opposition, i.e. GOPe.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to use Telegram (and I’m not technologically illiterate). Do you just add those people to your ‘contacts’ list and then their feed shows up? Or, do you have to navigate to those individual pages?
I’ve got a parler account but I’m not going to bother going back. Pretty pathetic being down for a month no matter the circumstances.
I could care less what the political talking heads have to say. I’ll read the headlines here but other than that, I’m done with politics. Probably done with voting too. Seems like a mute point when someone else is going to decide anyway.
I absolutely agree that it’s essential social media alternatives find some space to grow organically. It’s disturbing that both Parler and Gab (I believe) have to resort to homing themselves on Russian servers because they’re persona non grata by US hosters.
Yikes.
Political censorship aside, the enormous privacy concerns regarding Facebook should be more than enough for average people to abandon that platform. I have my issues with Apple and particularly Tim Cook’s decision on Parler, but he’s absolutely correct when he describe the existential threat to privacy that Facebook is.
I hear you. You search for the addy you want to add then click “join” at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps.
Torba is BASED. no doubt
Torba periodically posts on Gab and is doing a great job - Parler's guy is the one that made statements sounding like he's kissing the Lett's ring(s):
Over the past few weeks, Parler has been repeatedly mischaracterized and treated unjustly. But the recent personal attacks on our CEO John, his wife Alina, and their family are reprehensible. Alina, whose working-class family lived in the former Soviet Union, came to America to start her own multi-racial, interfaith family with John. To subject them to baseless accusations that their marriage is part of some twisted espionage scheme—all because she is an immigrant—is precisely the sort of “racism, nativism, fear, [and] demonization” President Biden urged us to reject in his inaugural address. The Entire Parler Team stands behind John and Alina. Our new President called for unity: “We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal. We can do this, if we open our souls instead of hardening our hearts.” The smears against John and Alina are exactly the sort of tactics he is imploring us all to abandon. Let’s all commit to working together toward unity and healing.
Parler requires a phone number to sign up, which they won’t get from me. And historically they’ve run scripting from google on their site. (Analytics, etc, visible by using NoScript in your browser) I don’t trust that.
Today I see that Parler is just running script from YouTube (at least when I’m not logged in), which is technically Google anyway.
Gab runs scripting from gab. It’s their own servers. I trust Gab 10x more than Parler, and infinitely more than Google or any other avowed leftists.
The Twitter purge, followed by assault against Parler, was a double hit that enormously benefited Gab. Andrew Torba’s decision to go it alone, especially with respect to web hosting services, paid big dividends. He has good reason to be proud his independence.
But IMHO Parler still has a good business model and will learn from the mistake of relying on AWS. I don’t see anything wrong with having an angel investor, e.g. Rebekah Mercer, so long as she remains dedicated to the project. In fact, her wealth and dedication might have saved the Parler, giving it a financial bridge after AWS pulled the plug.
Torba trashing the Mercers is BS. I expect better from Torba.
Right now Gab is my go-to platform of choice. But I will maintain accounts on Parler and the others. Don't forget about YouTube alternative Rumble, they deserve our support as well although YouTube still has a thousand times more content. Through our support of Rumble, that will eventually change.
People might say "why social media at all - why 'follow' people on social media?"
Well since I cut cable, social media is where I get all my news (including Free Republic). I like to follow patriots and other reputable sources of news that are not owned by the Chinese and the communists.
I found out about the huge Trump rally in FL today through this social media. You think this is being reported on CNN or Fox?
Anyone who cares can say hello to me there @zeugma.
Basically put the above in to test how to refer to my account in HTML.
I just followed you.
You add those people to your feed. Each person will have their own channel that you can visit.
Add Don Jr. For a good example.
Woot! Thanks!
I joined GAB a week ago and I’m not sure that any of my posts are visible to others. I’m wondering if they shadow ban over there. The items I post have no activity on them at all.
