If the computer was "new" enough to have Windows 7 as the initial install, probably not...in fact it may run smoother. I had an old computer I was going to replace but upgrading to Windows 10 bought it a whole new lease on life.
I did the same and Win 10 killed it. But, it was an old ACER laptop with a single core AMD processor and 32 bit data path. It was a useful machine for traveling when all I wanted to do was check email, or type in an airport.
32 bit machines don’t do the Win 10 thing very well, or so I have been told and experienced.
But yeah, a 62 bit machine would probably run it just fine
But, here is the kicker.
Win 10 = $139.00 downloaded from Micro-Fascist.
Unbutu = Free, or whatever you donate.
On a 11 year old machine, the Win 10 might be worth more than the machine depending on what he’s got. And you’d have to carefully backup everything before reloading windows.
You can get a reconditioned, used machine, that is 7 years old, or less, with probably way more storage, and better video, for $149.88 on Ebay.

So, 10 bucks more for probably better machine, pre-loaded with Win 10, or a free Linux OS, and swap everything out.
Just my thoughts
