I just found out that jazz pianist Chick Corea has died today from a rare form of cancer. I never knew all that much about him. I still don't. What I do recall was his album The Leprechaun from 1976. Pleasant listening. I had hoped to see him live someday. Not meant to be. I used to play that album on repeat for hours as I did my homework in College. Corea and the group Weather Report were among my favorites. Back in Columbus Ohio. I will leave it up to someone more deeply versed in jazz piano to describe Chick's many contributions to world music.

Once again, another death. Seems I can’t come to this forum anymore without hearing that somebody or another died. If it’s not that drummer from the band whose name I can’t remember anymore or that film star from those movies my parents used to watch at the drive-in, it’s somebody else.
When will the madness end?

Who's the idiot that tagged this with scientology? I know lots of fine people from lots of religious sects. Chick was a great musician.

My dear friend Larry played drums a jazz fusion band and a rock band, he turned me onto fusion when I was like 17.
RIP Larry

Check out the band Iona with Joanne Hogg and Dave Bainbridge.
(The band has split up but Bainbridge has done some excellent solo work.)
