When I was a kid my grandad was the “ice and produce man” for a good part of the county. I used to love riding his route with him delivering ice to far-flung farms and getting their butter, eggs and assorted produce. Very few of those farm wives failed to give a skinny little girl a little goodie. A peach, pie, cookie, cup of fresh real milk. I’d meet their kids, play 5 or 10 minutes while Pepaw transacted business.
The ice was those big blocks in back of a ‘49 pickup covered with a tarp. Ice ax to break the block of ice and there was a scale welded on a back corner of the truck bed to weigh the ice. Produce procured went nestled behind the ice. As a kid I thought he had the best job on earth!
The old town mechanic bought that truck when Pepaw upgraded. One of the mechanic’s grandsons still owns it. I see it out and about every great once in a while. Worth a pretty penny now. Not restored but kept clean and in good condition.

It's been spitting sleet here for hours. Hasn't been above freezing since Thursday so ground is coated. We got a little sun yesterday but at 28 deg there wasn't much warmth to it. Did make me smile to see the sun tho. Staying bundled and ready for spring!

I just finished watching this video.
There are scenes in it from peaceful demonstrations that have been happening all over the world due to COVID and the police brutality the protestors have been receiving.
I don’t know about you, but I really have not seen much about it in the news. They are not reporting it.
The information in the video is startling and terrifying. It even addresses why police all over the world are enforcing the totalitarian dictates from the government and why it was so easy to put the dictates in place (fear).
Please, please watch this and pass it on.

Better idea: hold the Stampede as usual. Invite every healthy Calgarian under 65 to attend, and hold a giant square dance, to make sure everyone has a good chance to catching the virus. Send them home, making sure all the old folks are isolated. Wait three weeks.
Resume normal life.
There used to be chicken pox parties to make sure that every kid got it and that the community could put it behind them. We need coronavirus parties.

We are not in a quake area either. I did spend 8 months living in WA state in the 70's so learned to recognize a tremor. In all my years I've only noticed 1 quake in Texas. I did exactly like you mentioned and went to the "Did you feel it" site.
The day that fert plant blew up in West I also went to that sight but the news of that was spread within minutes.
Until Tuscaloosa Goldfinch mentioned this on-thread I thought it was just us.
I have had an acquaintance who decided to dynamite his septic tank hole - without permits. About 5 miles from our house. We felt that. It only took him one shot for a bigger hole than needed. Plenty of room for a leach field. And I have suspicioned something akin to this may be going on. But no sheriff reports. No knowledgeable neighborhood talk. LOTS of talk about the booms. Something is off.
As I remember, that is what the distributors were set up for. They had the big ice coolers full of bagged ice at WalMart - hundreds of bags, refilled regularly.
Weather gurus here in OK say we won't see the sun OR get above freezing for a week. Small stream of water running continuously from all faucets in the house, but am still uneasy that the kitchen faucet & pipes (on the north wall) will freeze and burst. Not sure if my homeowner's insurance would cover it. Hope they do, just in case. Because no way can I afford such repairs.

I am not prepared at all to declare that we have DUMBS blowing up in the neighborhood. Not there. But, my awareness is raised due the the number and length of time this is occurring. Hindsight is 20/20, I should have written these down. It is not daily. Just every few days, since mid-January.
