Just think of delta this way:
“Delta” begins with “D”.
“Difference” begins with “D”.
When you see someone use “delta” here they are usually referring the difference from one point in time and another - so a time difference.

Sort of... So a small difference or almost no difference is called delta since it signifies coordination, amirite? Or exactly a year apart, etc.
