Hi Freeps!
I need your help! Over ten years ago, I asked for some good locations in Washington State to live and you all came through and helped my family find a good place to live!
Now I'm here asking you all again. My husband and I are needing to either move to South Carolina or Texas. We just need to find a good location, not too close to any city, more rural area with good schools and hopefully more conservatives.
In Texas, we would like to live near either Dallas -Fort Worth, Amarillo, Lubbock or Midland. We just want to stay away from Austin or Huston.
In South Carolina, we really have no idea. Probably more inland away from the tourist areas.
Any help would be great, like areas to stay away from, etc.
Thank you so much!
We are considering it, we have family there.
You make a point, if I move to SC, we can vote the ass out! (unless they are using Dominion voting machines)
Upcountry west of I-26 near Lake Thurmond would be my first stop. Beautiful area, nice area for boating if you are into boating. Lots of golf. Very rich in History. There are several nice size small cities in the area (Greenwood, Saluda, Augusta, GA) and then there is Greenville and Columbia a little further away. It will be HOT in the Summer and fairly cool in winter (though don’t expect a lot of snow). Start around the town of McCormick. A Charming little place. The road net is quite good.
If across the lake will work, Lincolnton, Ga would even be better, but, I am slightly biased as I am from Georgia and have family that is from Lincolnton. We use to spend summers up that way and would visit Greenwood and McCormick.

How are things otherwise in the old neighborhood. I am from Savannah myself, but, we are cruising the ICW right now and haven’t been home in a bit (though we did have to stay the summer in Beaufort for various reasons).
Do the police still have color days? It use to be, if you drove the wrong color car on the wrong day in Bluffton, you got a traffic ticket. s
Last winter, we stayed for a couple of weeks on Hilton Head in Shelter Cove. It was wet and nasty for the most part, but, indeed it was fairly mild.
If Texas, choose Fort Worth over Dallas, Austin, San Antonio or Houston. It is the only red urban county ...
“Pray to The Lord for guidance on it. I’ll certainly do that for you. This is a big step for you and your family!”
My husband an I have had one hell of a year and we are hoping to make a fresh start again. Christ is at the center of this decision and your support and prays are appreciated. Thank you.
That is VERY SIGNIFICANT with the new Green New Deal garbage that will be descending like a blight across the American landscape. It means all the Texas based electric companies all can only compete locally in state, and can't sell for higher prices to other states, raising the local prices per KWH.
Mountains! The Franklin Mountains are easily accessed for hiking, etc. Desert beauty abounds. Now I will say it does get HOT there in summer, so remember that. But there are numerous wineries to enjoy plus proximity to higher elevation in Ruidoso NM to get away to cool off in summer (and ski in winter!).

Aiken, SC is a nice small town too.
Indeed! It’s close to New Ellington and the Carolina BBQ place. :D
Good BBQ is important
I lived a lifetime one year in Columbia when I was in Grad School at the real USC.
I found that, besides being cold in winter, and VERY hot in Summer, everyplace I wanted to go was on the other side of town. No matter where I was, and, had to go, it was WAY over on the other side.
We were placing out trust in the GOP to represent our interests, which we now know was definitely a mistake.

I ran across this article that directly touches on what you said. I don’t know anything about the author but his insights are spot on IMO.

Amen sister!
I was a big Tea Party supporter. To say that the GOP never embraced the movement would be an understatement. That was the beginning of my realization that the Republican Party wasn’t anywhere near close to being what it cast itself to be. Its a fake party.

Point of order mam, I 95 does run through SC. Dim witted Dems may just decided they’ve traveled far enough south, and pull over and setup shop in your lovely state.
And set about ruining it.
Driving towards Llano it opens up pretty quickly. Anyway, I’d love to live there.
