LOL, you’re right. It does seem mixed. When I first moved here and people asked how I voted, they got confused when I said conservative. When I switched to saying Republican, they were happy about that. I pondered that as Well.
Their grandpa voted Republican, so that’s what many do even if they don’t understand why. This area was Republican even during the CW, which made its neighbors angry with them. There were lots of little skirmishes. They are big into traditions, even the bad or outdated ones. So we have to thank the original settlers long ago for choosing how to vote.
But if a 3rd party develops, even if it’s a strongly conservative one, I doubt this area will vote for it.

There were voices caught on video that day at the Capitol saying ‘hang Mike Pence’. Who the people were, I don’t know. The phrase was also trending on Twitter that day until they stopped it.
And don’t forget, Lin Wood had posted on Twitter prior to then, saying Mike Pence should be executed by firing squad for treason.
The second part of these charges could have been applied to people who have gone into hearing rooms and shouted down the speakers as well as to those who followed Senators around in a threatening way during the Kavanaugh hearings. Were they?
The FBI can really find people fast when they want to: facial recognition software, license plate identification, internet pictures, etc. Too bad the FBI wasn’t interested in any of the people who rioted all summer long.
