The United States Supreme Court has reversed a lower court decision that upheld a temporary ban on nearly all abortions in Texas, asking the appellate court to dismiss the case as moot.

The Supreme Court granted the petition of Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics to reverse a ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals that upheld an executive order from Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, banning most abortions in an effort to free up hospital space for coronavirus patients. The Fifth Circuit’s ruling itself reversed a judge’s ruling at the district court level. Abbott’s executive order came in March 2020, a time when most U.S. states had implemented shutdowns of varying intensity in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

I’ve been watching Maria’s Sunday show. I didn’t know she has a weekday show until yesterday.

Slightly off topic, but I’m wondering how the good guys could ever take back the school system.

The left controls who becomes teachers....so you either go along with them or you fail. Then they control what is taught to the kids, so you have to follow along. The left is 100% in control of the kids who go to public school, which is the majority of them.

The only thing I think may save the system is the voucher system. Not everyone can afford private, but the voucher system would open the schools up to competition. I would also allow people who don’t have the official teaching degree to teach some classes. There are many, many parents and others out there who could do a great job. Each school can assess and monitor a non-certified teacher.

When I had my tutoring business, I had a few teachers who brought their children to me. They knew full well that the way reading, writing and spelling were taught in the early grades was churning out illiterates. The funny thing was that the teachers (whose children I taught) were all early high school teachers. They had dealt with the many kids going into high school with poor reading/spelling/writing skills....they didn’t want THEIR kids to be one of them.

Just my musing for this morning.....big snow storm here. I may be thinking over all kinds of things today lol.

I’m thinking that with all the kids home with the lockdowns, it’s the perfect time to insist on coming into everyone’s home to “assess” the kids....including the kids who are normally home-schooled all the time. I wouldn’t put it past them.
