There is something called "Belly Laugh Therapy." It feels really stupid at first, but once you start thinking about how silly you must look doing it, you start laughing even more, and then the laughter just builds until you are laughing so hard you are literally about to wet your pants. It breaks up stressful energy held in the body and you feel better afterwards. It's why comedy movies, where you are laughing together with a crowd of anonymous people in a dark theater, are so popular. (Or used to be, when we were allowed to gather.) Laughter really is the best medicine, and if you can laugh in the face of pure evil, all the better.

Just think of how freeing and beautiful a huge crowd of belly-laughers would feel after a year of this COVID nonsense! I say we just laugh in their faces. Laugh until tears are streaming and everyone is doubled over, holding their sides. Laugh and watch them shrink.

At least 2 cancer centers that I’m aware of include laughter as therapy. They have studies showing that laughter is a good therapy for curing or sending cancer into remission.

Laugh on FreeQs. I have also read that laughter is beneficial in weight loss and heart issues tho that has not been official studies I’ve seen. Does make sense in both cases.

Yes, that is a good thing too! Neil Simon wrote a book about making a difficult recovery from a debilitating illness by laughing himself out of it.

For some reason, this laughing idea reminds me of that Star Trek (original series) episode “Day of the Dove” where the Enterprise crew and a starship full of Klingons are beset by some evil entity that intensifies the already existing animosity between them because it lives off negative energy.

They eventually figure out that the way to make it go away is to laugh at it.

Once my kids and I did an experiment, they were about 14 and 12. We tried fake laughing to see what happened. In a very short time we started to real laugh and then couldn’t stop and were rolling around on the floor in mirth.
