I've been an ebay'er since 1998. Never have I encountered so much censoring and blockage from ebay as there is now.
I ask the seller for an install manual, iow in pdf form. Ebay blocks my message. Seller wants my email address, ebay blocks. Seller wants to post it in the listing, ebay blocks.
There is no way that I can see to learn more about this product and its application for me.
So I cannot buy.
Any freeper have a suggestion ?
I have had photos of an email address and web page sent through eBay messaging. Even included my website in pictures of my products for years.
What gets me is the preventing sellers from posting pdf files, because ebay doesn’t trust them either.
I’ve asked the seller to post a photo of the part of the manual I need to see.
“I guess you can post a photo of the manual on the listing. I just need the part/page that shows the connector, output, for the external disconnect relay. Thanks.”
We’ll see if that happens.
Ebay bots detect anything that looks like an email address, so be creative. Spell things out or use descriptive words. I haven’t tried sending an image containing text information but it would take more effort for them to detect that.
Say you take a photo of the item in question to attach to an eBay message and your email address happens to be visible in the background? Plausible deniability.
“FB marketplace is free.”
FB removed a rental I had last week.
We used F/B to see what kind of tenant a lead would be. Saw all sorts of obscenities on that possible tenant’s FB page. Asked them to confirm I had the right page for them ... they took it down. As I said I cannot have someone that might be doing this around my grandchildren.
FB wants my grandchildren to be exposed to filth.
I appreciate your effort. I’ve already seen this stuff.
If you know about electronics you can see there is:
Nothing in those images show a relay or relay control signal.
Just like most of the chicom crap, original docs are in chinese and never make it to English.
There’s this thing called the “Internet” where you can actually search for things like documents.
eBay now requires your SS #, date of birth and bank account info to sell stuff. i sell local off eBay whenever possible.
“Another method is to take a picture of your email address all typed out, and attach it to your message. Screw Ebay.”
Great idea I will try that.
I have been on ebay since 1999. Their new fee structure is outrageous + they only pay you now about every 7-10 days. No more PP through ebay
Time to leave eBay. I left after 17 years after eBay would not make good on their stated guarantee and allowed a seller to send me dead plants when I paid for live ones and wanted me to pay postage for replacements. EBay is guilty of many cases of fraud. They also delete negative feedbacks to improve the feedback score of their “super sellers”, as they get a cut out of every sale.

Started in 2019 if you sell more than $20k per year you will get a 1099.
I have been selling a ton of stuff on Facebook marketplace. No fees. Could I have got more from Ebay? Probably but now it’s about 18% in fees. $200 item = $35-40 in fees. So it washes out.
The rare high priced stuff I still use ebay.
"Could you please provide the manual in a standardized format such as Adobe. Send it to "Johndoe12" at hotmail.
Seller could put a link to it like so; mywebsite dot com/devicemanual.pdf
I’m on ebay. If you give me the item number, I’ll try to get in touch with the seller. They won’t have their eye on me like they do you now.
Is that for new Ebayers or for established Ebayers?
Next time don’t ask for the confirmation. They must have reported you to...whomever.
I have lots of investment properties, but I would never rent them to anyone. Flip only. Owner fi if need be. In the contract it’s stated with crystal clarity that the buyer is a buyer, not a tenant, and the contract is a purchase contract, not a rent-to-own or lease-purchase arrangement. If they don’t pay as agreed they lose all they paid in.
With a rental, they don’t lose a thing, you can be sued for damages, your property is trashed, removing the trash costs a small fortune, extermination, cleanup, repairs...and anyway eviction may be impossible because covid. (I have friends who are landlords, they have been ruined by covid eviction moratorium. One of them bought a 60-unit building, tarted it up with new everything, and now almost none of his tenants have paid a dime in months.)
Many landlords have never had a problem. “I have never had a problem” playing Russian Roulette.
Excuse my straying from the subject. :)
FB is good for almost nothing, but its marketplace has a great many advantages. You can check FB pages, discreetly. Whereas ebay doesn’t even have an “about me” page anymore.
With a phone number you can spell out the numbers. Nine...One...Nine Two...Three...Two, etc.
Just drop it cold turkey, or simply phase it out of your life.
Contact made.
Tried this first.

Hopefully the seller’s smart enough to figure it out. Will let you know.
I’ve been an avid user of Ebay for at least that long. Paying a 10% commission on sales is a tough nut, but there’s no other venue, save for Amazon, that comes close in breadth. I still resent how they totally restrict communication. They just implemented a policy preventing sellers from posting their phone numbers; sheeeee-it!
