Lincoln proved it was illegal.
Texit?
Who decides legality or illegality? CornPop....Heels Up...Schumer?
If Texas votes to leave, I’m thinking they’re going to have some company. I’m just hoping that Georgia, even with the corrupt POSs we have as our elected representatives, goes with them.
The colonies did not secede from Great Britain. They were colonies, which meant that they were governed differently from the rest of Great Britain. All U.S. states are governed equally under the U.S. Constitution.
So, you’ll have no problem getting on a knee for what is coming?
This country was established as the result of a secession movement. The notion that secession is somehow “illegal” by any objective measure is ludicrous.
“I thought Texas specifically retained the right to secede when they joined the Union.”
If that were the case, Texas would have stayed out of the Union after the Civil War.
“Legal” is not a word that applies to secession.
Does not matter.
My son, the word ‘legal’ has nothing to do with evaluating whether or not an action is just or right.
Ah, our Supreme overlords once again make national law. 5 Justices decided that secession was unconstitutional. That’s right, 5 unelected officials get to decide for the whole nation. Old Bill Shakespeare might have been on to something.
It’s legal. Most everyone in the early days believed it was. It’s a very important part of being free imo.
It is if you win.
L
Everything is legal if both sides agree. Texas has always been too valuable to lose. Louisiana, not so much.
Think about it, who would bitch if New Mexico left?
Having been a policeman, you often run into the conflict between doing what is ‘legal’ and doing what is just and right.
Before there were cameras everywhere LEO’s could decide between them in particular street incidents; it was called ‘discretion’.
Can’t do that anymore.
But for secession, ask yourself, all of the BS foisted on We the People by Congress for the past 50 years...Was it ‘legal’? Certainly. Was it Just or Right? Well..
I don’t think there will ever be permission. If it comes to it, you prepare for consequences and do it.
It could happen, but it would require the consent of Congress and the states.
Unilateral secession is expressly unconstitutional.
No. Next question.
Maine seceded from Massachusetts, Tennessee seceded from North Carolina, Kentucky seceded from Virginia, Vermont seceded from both New York and New Hampshire.
“The Union is what made our country.”
And a 19th century ideology is destroying it.
We will overwhelming take back the Congress and expel Seattle, Portland & SF
FORCE them to join Canada
