Texas Land Commissioner George P Bush has furiously denied claims that he plans to erect a statue of a Mexican dictator who led troops against the defenders of the Alamo at the site of the historic battle in San Antonio.
Bush, the son of former Florida governor Jeb Bush and nephew of President George W Bush, has been at the center of a simmering dispute over planned renovations at the Alamo, which he is overseeing.
Controversy arose when a group called Save The Alamo reported in a December 10 Facebook post that Bush intends to put up a statue of General Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna outside the beloved landmark.
Under Santa Anna's leadership, Mexican troops slaughtered nearly 200 Texans fighting to keep control of their land by the Mexico border at the 13-day Battle of the Alamo in 1836.
Bush responded to the Santa Anna statue claim the following day, calling it an 'outright lie' and flat out racist'.
He also questioned whether his Mexican heritage fueled the accusation that he would support a Mexican dictator.

The Bushes think they are insiders, when what are is useful idiots.
“He also questioned whether his Mexican heritage fueled the accusation that he would support a Mexican dictator.”
Not by iteself, but when combined with his family’s obsession with unlimited immigration from Mexico which he seems to share, YES.
I wonder how many Democrats will try to primary Paxton (who is currently prosecuting vote fraud).
They tried to do it to Tom DeLay.
Oh, now lies matter??
Never believe in anything in politics George until it has been officially denied.
Why would anyone do that? That would be like erecting a statue of Ho Chi Minh at the Vietnam Memorial.
If George P. is on my ballot at the general election, I’m voting Democrat.
Ha! Ha!
The democrats monitor FR. Don't be giving them ideas.

Sure. So what.
It’s a sensible criticism. He’s Mexican, so he sides with them. Nothing shocking about that.
But completely in bounds for us to make the connection.
Nobody has a problem connecting German ethnicity to Nazism. Why would Mexicans get a pass for their mass murderers?
I could see any Bush doing this.
A flashback to a fake claim posted on facebook is relevant? Seems petty and insignificant to me, aka “all hat and no cattle”. I suspect folks are going to have to do better than this if they want to damage GP Bush.
The Little Brown One being exposed. Never Vote for a Bush.
why not put a statue up so all the texans can spit on it...
hehehe
Few people recall the name of Santa Anna’s illustrious son, Benjamin, who was such a genius at horticulture that a popular type of fruit was named after him.
Have you ever heard of a Banana?
He can run for AG but he won’t get my vote. Primary or general election.
That awkward feel when you realize that the Left wasn’t entirely wrong about the Bush Family. Ugh.
When Santa Anna seized power in Mexico, many of the states declared themselves to be Independent. Coahuila y Tejas, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Durango, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Yucatán, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas.
Santa Anna formed an army and overthrew every one of these states, till he got to Coahuila Y Texas, which, after several defeats, proceeded to hand him his butt on a platter.
