Moose meat is delicious IF you are a person that likes braunschweiger, or fried chicken livers, because while it is beeflike, it has a very faint hint of braunschweiger/liver flavor, just enough to let you know it’s not beef, but not at all disagreeable.

That does it. My wife and I have been together 23 years, and she's always been revulsed by the smell of liver cooking, to my detriment. This week I put my foot down and get some good beef liver and about three sweet onions to fry with it. I'll fix her a Swanson pot pie for dinner. LOL
Personally, I think it taste more like horse than elk, but if you ever had elk and deer (venison) you would say it taste more like elk than deer. It is very good. It is very lean/low fat, at least the cuts I have had in the past.
I’ve had plenty of venison. But horse, no. And I’d be disowned. My family owns a horse, so I don’t think horse meat is in the offing, unless I got some of that South American canned corned beef that had fillers in it.
If you ever eat them cuts on the younger hors, then you will find that purty fillying too!

I love moose roast and hot dogs. It’s delicious.
In Anchorage in the ‘70s, my boss’ wife was an admistrator for the State children’s services. The Alaska Railroad was forever hitting moose. The RR would call her office, they’d go pick it up, and have it butchered to feed the kids.
I like elk over bison and bison over beef.
Elk burger is just the best.
Even with the forced perspective that is a hugh and series moose!
Down here in Alabama, they do the same thing, but it’s spot-on-sight or word of mouth. If it’s a fresh kill from a truck hit, I’ve seen good ol’ boys field cleaning a kill right in the median of the interstate. Moose hot dogs sound interesting, too.
Considering the average bull moose can stand 6 feet tall and weigh 1400#, and yield weight of approx 1/3 head, hide, hooves and horns (antlers), 1/3 guts and bones, and 1/3 meat when butchered, that comes out to over 400# of delicious, nutritious protein, less of course any losses due to impact...
I gotta try one, then. The majority of people here on the thread are testifying to the culinary goodness of elk meat. I’ve had it in jerky before. Pure, not cut with beef. It was good, but I have a taste for exotic meats. Which also explains my dating history. LOL!
Moose hot dogs are the best. Reindeer sausage is good, too.
