You do make some good points.
A problem is that hosting comments can become very server intensive, and streaming media can become exorbitantly intensive — normal webservers aren’t optimized to stream videos.
But again, you do have a good point.
On a different note, I’m looking at using Epik.com for some of the sites I work with.
They have pretty good pricing. I’ve been using veerotech out of one of the Carolinas N or S, can’t remember. They own all their own equipment. I don’t know their political leanings but I did host a site called sonsofconstitutionalliberty.com for a fellow freeper on veero. Had a reseller account at the time. I don’t bother with a reseller account anymore. It’s nice having an individual cpanel for each site, creating and controlling them from whm but all my customers have been non-tech so I end up doing everything that gets done in cpanel.
You would need a good amount of RAM for thousands of people commenting at once and would need many TB of hdd for vids. I don’t know if any of the alt video sites are set up with oEmbed or not. Rumble seems pretty stripped down. I just loath all things google which youtube is.
