GOP leadership is distancing from Trump. The GOP needs new leadership.

The best proof we’ve seen that demonstrates what many of us have felt for a long time is watching Republican lawmakers and executives distance themselves from President Trump. Some of us have believed the apparent embrace of the President and his policies by leaders in the GOP was manufactured and/or feigned for political expediency only. In other words, people like Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham were only pretending to defend the President because they could use him. Now that he seems to be leaving (though some of us aren’t so sure that’s actually the case), they’re scrambling back to the swamp-infested shadows of Republican establishmentism.

The Republican Party should be controlled by, you know, Republicans. President Trump’s brand of politics is populist Republicanism. It’s like standard Republicanism with an America-first mentality that disavows neoconservative principles. It also engages in principles that are not traditionally Republican such as fair trade instead of free trade and bigger budgets than we’d like. I’m not happy with the big budgets, but it seems like there are only six or seven in the House and maybe three in the Senate who actually walk the walk of fiscal conservatism, so that’s a battle for later.

Right now, we need to either get a new party going or we need to replace the tired Republican Establishment leadership in the GOP with populist Republicans.

McConnell, Graham, McCarty, all the “powerful” repubs are nothing but RINO swamp critters. Same as their counterparts, Pelosi and Schumer.

There is no reforming the GOP. The Republican Party is the "controlled opposition" wing of the Uniparty and its only purpose is to give Americans the illusion of choice. We must abando the GOP and form a new party so the the globalist, leftist Uniparty can no longer hid behind them. Who thinks we can successfully fight the Leftist Democrats when the GOP behind us is always ready to stab us in the back.

The Republican party distanced themselves from Trump from the time he came down that escalator — and they never came back.

The GOP has no clue the banishment that awaits them. I for one will never again vote for someone who just has the R next to their name. I would think there’s enough like-minded folks to make it very difficult for most “Republican” types to win.

They apparently have learned nothing from Fox News and Twitter...

Remember The Conscience of a Conservative? The GOP certainly changed, albeit into the Democrats.

I expect, though, that a great number of them will retire rather than face an ignominious end to their careers.

*************

Correct. And then the GOP will work on the new members to convert them over to the dark side, like they always do. Trust me, the party machinery is there for that very purpose.

Hey, Jerc. The GOP is dead without Trump. They might as well all wear the "D" pins on their lapels now.

Who among us is going to ever vote for Romney, Flake, Toomey, Kasich, Sasse or all of these other fake RINOs?

I don't see any loyal Trump supporter ever voting for a Republican again.

Too many chameleon Republican congress critters. Bottom line is “How much $$$$$ is in it for me?”. That is what politicians feed and base their decisions on. Big Tec, the military industrialists, wall street, or where ever you find the garden of $$$$$$$ to be harvested. Will it ever change? Not for you and I. It will only lead to a different color of the same ole $#!t. The beat will go on. Want a better life, run for office, its where the $$$$$ seeds are found.

They have never had a spine. They had a surrogate spine with Trump but they never developed one of their own.

I really think the emergence of a new party would be a game changing event. Tens of millions of people would instantly leave the GOP quickly rendering it a useless shell of a party (which many would argue it already is).

Ironically, this would put us right back to a two party system again.

Its time to move forward. Big problems require big solutions. We need a major course correction.

Its time.

GOP will be rudderless, anchorless, apologetic, frightened, wimpy. They already are.

I say more of a “Solidarity” like movement which encompasses the entire political spectrum. There are a lot of true liberals (not the fascists who call themselves liberals) who are truly appalled by this.

I think you’re right. I didn’t vote for Republican Governor because he went into full lock down mode for the China virus.

The Republican party cannot be reformed.

I am 100% convinced of that. Just look at the party’s sordid history and long standing record of appeasement.

Same here. What would be the purpose? I’m tired of being stabbed in the back by the R’s.
