"The short answer is that I don't know and neither does anyone else," said Rosemary Hill, a historian and author of "Stonehenge...[Roll Credits]
Before we go any further, it's important to note that, technically speaking, Stonehenge isn't even a henge. The word "henge" is in fact a relatively recent term, first defined by British archaeologist Thomas Kendrick in 1932 to mean a circular bank with a ditch inside it and one or more entrances protruding through the bank. "But Stonehenge is the other way around, it's a bank inside a ditch," Hill told Live Science.
Even ignoring the reverse order of ditch and bank, most henges still wouldn't have looked like Stonehenge because they were usually made from wood, which makes sense. Wood is everywhere, and is much easier to carve and transport, even if it isn't as durable. It wasn't until the 20th century that archaeologists realized that Britain once boasted a bounty of wood henges that have long since rotted away and vanished from sight.
In Ireland and the Brittany region of France, there are also some similarly ancient stone circles, which though technically not henges do overlap in academic discussions. There's also a wooden henge-like monument dating to the late Stone and early Bronze ages that's not too far from Berlin, and a 4,500-year-old "timber circle" monument in Portugal. If we're counting all of these different types of circles together, there are thought to be thousands sprinkled around the British Isles and parts of mainland Europe.
"Stonehenge remains a mystery, and you can be a Druid or an anthropologist or an archaeologist or a New Ager and you can bring your own thing to it."

Round.....
Surrounded by rocks.....
It’s a fire pit.
Only Fred Flintstone knows.
Because they had to have something to do no tv no internet no movies no porn hub
And they liked British rock groups!
Picture is gone.
My own private theory: Somebody traveled as far as Greece and they tried to imitate the temple architecture. Do the dates work? I never bothered to check.
The glory that was Greece and the grandeur that was Rome, early British version.
I was there when you could still walk all around the thing and touch it.
On the bottom of each stone has an ancient inscription.
It say’s MADE IN CHINA
It was a mooring post to tie the ropes of ancient anti gravity flying saucers too when visiting earth.
I visited Stonehenge about 15 years ago, and Rosemary (she goes by Romy) was my tour guide; I bought her book. It was one of the best days of touring I’ve ever had, as we went to nearby Salisbury and toured the magnificent cathedral there.
Good find!!!

Very cool.
One other thing. She told us that the stones which form Stonehenge were not locally quarried, but rather probably came from the sea cliffs in Pembrokeshire, Wales, then were probably taken by crude log floats around the southern coast of Britain to a river called Avon, then floated up this river to a point three miles south of Stonehenge, where they were then dragged, probably by slave labor, to their current position. She also indicated that the stones line up with sunrise on the summer solstice.
Stonehenge is 9 miles north of Salisbury. You take a train from London Waterloo station; the trip takes about 90 minutes. Several tour companies are located right outside the station. Ask around for Romy.
Why? Well there are similar structures all over the world even older are the ones in Tunisia. What do they have in common? Many are build where there is a natural process of piezo electrical charges released. If fact of all of these structures, Stonehenge is one of the last built.
If a person stands near these charges they interact with our brains causing “visions” or hallucinations” what used to be called “entering the spirit realm” - all these “visions” or hallucinations” are remarkably consistent from person to person - they all report the same general spiritual experiences.
Why? They are commonly believed to be astronomical observation structures for forecasting harvest seasons and such like by mainstream archeologists. However, there is a failure to take into account the dates of construction and geological history. The very oldest of these structures goes back over 10,000 years and approaches the time of the Great Burning when there were comet strikes on the Earth in 10,800 BC which began in the summer and fall solstice with the Taurids meteor showers and lasted for around 100 years until the Earth passed out of the heaviest parts of the broken up comet that created them. They very likely were all built by the same peoples who migrated around the world building them to warn of the coming showers which once destroyed the world.
I could go on. Perhaps the point is here is that the mainstream people use “consensus thinking” to reach their conclusions - all of which cannot contradict the basic assumption that human history is progressive - each building on the previous until the pinnacle is us now today. But there is just too much evidence to the contrary - its like admitting to aliens who’s existence revealed, will cause widespread panic - according to the meme.
So one one knows. Like no one knows how votes were subtracted from one candidate and the same number appeared instantly and magically on the challengers tally. Just a mystery we may never solve.
Yep, back then it was “ I wanna hold your pans.”
It was built by the guberment at the time as the first link to the cross channel bridge. The guberment figured out it is easier to build the first part of the bridge on land cause it was easier.
With cost over runs and miss management no more was built.
Most boring place I have ever visited.

Seriously, havent there been like 10 documentaries the last 10 years about this?
