Q about ham radio
Anyone ever hear fred flintstone on WBCQ?
He runs his show 14 mi from here, uplink it to Monticello maine and transmits it all over the world.
They won’t, unless they look it up. And if it’s a real call sign, that wouldn’t do them much good. I know a guy whose license lapsed long ago, and he still transmits.
Callsigns are in an online database. A fake one won’t be there. The licensee
name, address, class of license, issue/expire date. It’s easy to get a tech
license. 5 year olds have done it. Is a federal offense worth avoiding what a 5 year old could do?
Rogues transmit from jungles, and apartments...
Yeah, I’ve used a fake callsign up to 20 watts for 2 decades.
Yeah. If you mess with your neighbor’s TV or radio reception., there may be a risk.
Renewing the license is
Very easy now,like a
Change of address.
Lol! I I had neighbor that used to show up drunk in his underwear on the transmitter drinking home brew on th tv
I know. So does he. Doesn’t care, evidently.
Sounds like an improvement over the networks.
I call it a draw.
Good hams try to avoid talking politics on radio.
One man’s opinion. I’ll bet the Neilson ratings would scare some folks.
Early 80s I sat in a ... ‘secure facility’ in Germany and caught a skip from a CB in Boston. Guy bitching about traffic. It was hilarious!
I have a problem with this entire thread and yes i have a ham license. We live in a lawless society and big tech is actively removing our ability to communicate. The discussion here is intended to subvert big tech and keep the lines of communications open. Now here is my problem with all of you. Why the hell are you worrying about a license? Buy your equipment and fight the good fight!
I liked their music, but I refused to buy their records because they are dirty commies."
Same.
Clash frontman Joe Strummer said of his socialist views "I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those asshole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism."
They were in the "business" of selling their music, they're brand...weren't they? Ha.
Sounds like the typical “naïve” view of socialism, that somehow you’re going to get leaders who can magically decide how to distribute everything fairly, and they will be immune to all the temptations that come from being in such a position of power.
I still think Joe was the kind of bloke you could have a pint with and have a good discussion about things, even if you disagreed.
BUT DO NOT BUY A CHINESE RADIO.
Spend more and get something that won't support our enemy and has less of a chance of having additional circuitry to send your communications to the PLA.
It depends on your equipment and how tall your antenna is.
Bill Cooper (Behold a Pale Horse) started out with a small rig, reading Egyptian myths to his local audience and went from there.
