We have multiple groups participating.
Trump supporters clearly said the breach by overwhelming numbers they joined was because they were triggered by Pence’s letter released early in the morning.
I read the letter early this morning and it made me angry.
Here’s a fact: Pence’s Chief of Staff and assistant staff are NeverTrumpers.
I’ll post proof later but others interested can dig on it and find it.
I’ll wager his Chief of Staff drafted that letter and had him sign it.
Some have checked and say Pence is still following Trump but it could have been Twitter suspending Trump’s account then coming back and partially restoring it.
Other actions of Pence are verified and show he’s a weasel.

Washington, D.C. is not a state, so there is no governor to call it up. It is, rather, a federal district, and, as described above, is under the exclusive jurisdiction of Congress. VP Pence, as President of the Senate, is a member of Congress while acting within that capacity, and would be the senior most member of Congress present. If VP Pence were not present, then Speaker Pelosi would be the senior most member of Congress, followed by Chuck Grassley as President Pro Tempore of the Senate.

If I had to guess I would say the the cop probably panicked, but who knows? I feel sorry for the guy being caught up in this. I hope there will be a full and through investigation, and if any inconvenient facts are uncovered, like that antifa was involved, then let the chips fall where they may. But somehow I can’t shake the expectation the the legacy media will omit some info, and emphasize other info, and the takeaway will be that it is all Trumps fault.

Pence just comitted treason if true. Didn’t Lin Wood say Pence would soon be arrested? If all these fools are together in a secret location conspiring against the President of the United States then they should be easy to round up.

Pence was not the ranking authority of anything.
He has no authority over the military.
None. Stupid anyway... Trump was right there... and we’d been told all along “the military wouldn’t be involved”... and they, quite ridiculously, just tried to reign in the Insurrection Act to make it HARDER for the President to deploy the Guard. But they have ZERO authority to do so without him.
It looks like:
They got caught cheating in elections... panicked... rigged a FAKE joint session of Congress to validate the fraud... and now they are launching a full blown coup.
This ends either with a full restoration of the rule of law, of a full on communist dictatorship.
But, at least, people now will know the truth about the government they have...

D.C. doesn’t have a Governor. The Executive with authority in D.C. is the President.
The Capital is the ONLY place in the country, where the Guard reports DIRECTLY to the President...

But, if it looks like a coup, and it quacks like a coup... when “someone” got caught cheating in elections AND conducting a FAKE Joint Session trying to depose the President we’ve elected... and then doesn’t wait to see if or how well the fraud “takes” before fomenting violence in justifying making ANOTHER effort in deposing him anyway ?

But, I will wait to see what does prove true.
The opinion that Mike Pence wasn’t going to reject the electoral votes today (which turned out to be correct) and that Lin Wood is residing at least part time in a non-consensual reality are not mutually exclusive.
And it would make sense for him to consult Pence before going in when Pence is in the building.

Oh, as President of the Senate he has some authority, but it is limited to very specific acts.
In the case of Washington, D.C., Trump would be CIC over the D.C. Guard (though historically a president would hand over direct control to the Commandant of the NG). But calling up the D.C. Guard is not solely reserved to POTUS (though once called up POTUS would — as I mentioned above — be the CIC).
But, from what I am now hearing Pence wasn’t involved at all with anything to do with the Guard, but that Pelosi and the Dem mayor called for it, and Guard units from Virginia and Maryland were requested by Pelosi and the mayor, as well; and the respective governors complied, and coordinated specifically with Pelosi, Schumer, and the mayor, apparently excluding any Republican officials.
Sounds a lot like a cluster f**k, anyway.
