Rep. Thomas Massie Lays Down Some "Hard Truths" About January 6
Red State ^ | | Jan 05, 2021 3:45 PM ET | By Becca Lower

On Tuesday morning, Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), a longtime ally of President Donald Trump and his administration, took to Twitter to impart what he calls some “hard truths” to the American people, especially supporters of the president currently in high anticipation of the objection by at least 100 Republican members and like-minded senators in the House of Representatives on January 6 to the electoral college votes for last November’s presidential election.

Massie began by saying that these facts are something “few want to acknowledge publicly”:

@RepThomasMassie

Some hard truths that few want to acknowledge publicly:

(1) If every Republican votes to disallow every Biden elector on January 6th, Biden will still be declared the winner by Congress. This is simple math, Democrats are in the majority and will vote to keep the Biden electors.

(2) No state has sent a competing set of electors. Each state has sent only one slate of electors. No state legislature has asked Congress to reject its state’s electors.

(3) Trump’s new AG, the replacement for Bill Barr, took office on December 24th and (as far as we can tell) has done nothing to investigate this election. I don’t know him, he might be a great person and very qualified, but Trump hired him and he doesn’t seem to be investigating.

One thing that’s important to note in Massie’s statement: there’s no admonishment for GOP senators and congressmen leading the fight against potential election fraud, just facts. That’s in stark contrast to other Republicans, like Sen. Tom Cotton, or Sen. Mitt Romney, whom I wrote about taking to, of all places, CNN to rip up his own party’s members as a “danger” to democracy. Which is, obviously, ridiculous on its face.

In the same vein as Massie, another ally of Pres. Trump, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) had this to say Tuesday about the steep hill facing the completely earnest, but ultimately doomed efforts of his Conservative colleagues:

Voter fraud, whether done by individuals or corrupt government officials, is not okay. It needs to be rooted out, and the administrators and other elected officials who implicitly or explicitly allow it should be voted out. But those on our side leading the base to hope against hope that something radical will change tomorrow to usher Pres. Trump back into the White House for four more years are doing everyone a disservice.

Here’s another hard truth: People say they want politicians to tell them the truth, to be transparent, but sometimes, that truth isn’t what we want to hear. There’s also this truth, which Jon Gabriel, the editor of Ricochet, wrote in his new op-ed piece published in USA Today over the weekend titled, “We went through hell in 2020 and came out stronger. Why 2021 will be better.”

Jon wrote that “false hope is worse than steely-eyed realism.”

You can’t say it any better than that.

Lots of people thought Clinton, or Obama, or Carter, or LBJ was “The end of the world as we know it”, too. They were wrong then and the people with their hair on fire thinking that the Republic Is Finished are wrong now.

(2) No state has sent a competing set of electors. Each state has sent only one slate of electors. No state legislature has asked Congress to reject its state’s electors.

I've been saying this for the past couple of weeks here on FR. The # of times people have insisted that "but..but..but..there are TWO SLATES of Electors!!" exceeds my ability to count.

If we're going to win in the future (and it's my fervent hope we get a LOT better at winning), we need to get our heads out of the sand and start acting on REAL, not false or "hopium", info.

There have never been two sets of electors for ANY state. Perhaps something will change soon - AZ looks promising in that regard. But so far, there is one, and ONLY ONE slate of certified electors for each state, which presents quite the problem for the good guys.

Rep. Massie is reminded that when he took his oath to protect and defend the Constitution, he committed himself to helping to guarantee a republican form of government in each state.
"Article IV, Section 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government [emphasis added], and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

Helping to guarantee a republican form of government for each state certainly includes listening to disputes about vote-counting integrity imo.

I don’t believe the House vote on the challenges would be by state delegation. That seems to only apply to the House selecting the President. I have heard some people, including Lara Trump, make the same assumption that you made but it’s not clear what their legal basis for that is, if any.

Clinton, Carter, LBJ or (God help me), even Obama was nowhere near the threat to the future of America that the current far, far, FAR left, beyond extreme Democrat party is.

Even Obama didn’t threaten to:

- Pack the courts
- Pack the Senate
- Eliminate the Filibuster
- Create 2 new states and (4) new reliably D Senate seats
- Spend $90 TRILLION DOLLARS (more than all the money in the world, combined) on “The Green New Deal”
- Spend God knows how much (many Trillions) on “Reparations for Slavery” (I never owned slaves..bet no-one else here did, either).
- Implement a “Wealth Tax”
- Give “free” Healthcare to Illegal Aliens
- Eliminate all College Debt
- Start up “Universal Basic Income” (um, who’s going to PAY for that?)
...the list goes on..and on..and on..

By comparison to today’s left, Clinton, LBJ and Carter would be “far right conservatives”. And that, quite simply, is utterly terrifying and what is at stake.

Someone in my other thread said the date is set by law and cant be postponed?

If the law abridges the constitutional powers of the state ligislatures to choose their electors in a reasonable amount of time, then yes the unconstitutional law should be ignored.

Uou are so wrong. Have you missed the great increase in censorship of patriots, violence againce patriots...supported and defended by local and state governments?...persecution of patriots defending themselves? Are you blind? Did you miss that Obama not only spied on Trump’s campaign, but persecuted conservative and Christian organizations. We are literally on the brink, this is the hill we die on.

“No state has sent a competing set of electors. Each state has sent only one slate of electors.” Isn’t that incorrect? Didn’t GOP in swing states send its own list of electors?

In that five swing states, the Governors sent a slate of electors and the Republicans sent a competing slate of electors.

Both slates are unconstitutional.

The "manner" in which the states send electors is through the legislatures. And it's the legislatures that "direct" the electors.

Here is a hard truth: there are a lot of riflemen waiting on the results. None of them will accept a Marxist result.

Many of those have dealt horrible violence in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

FAFO.

it’s happened in places with harder security forces than the DC assclowns. Ceausescu comes to mind. Kiev comes to mind.
Yes, they can be overwhelmed and their buildings stormed.

And yes, it can happen here. Mobs do things people alone won’t. That’s just a fact.

The difference between then and now is day and night.

Do I really need to summarize for you the level of censorship, the level of voter fraud, the level of corruption in the DOJ, the level of Chinese infiltration and the level of the radicalization of the Democrat party, all today, vs back then?

It might be. I missed Guadalcanal. I wasn’t even an indecent thought yet. But if there’s a sniper in the dark, I think two is pushing it. Hell, I think striking a match AT ALL is a bad idea in a foxhole.
